twitter..what can you tell me about it?

Not really interested in posting my business there..but would like to follow news stories...etc..

I went there and they want a user name like forums,but I have no idea what kind of user names people are using.Just make something up? like when you join a forum..anything old thing? LOL

Just kind of curious what goes on there. :)

also a little interested in pinterest..but I don't know much about it either. Do you have a user name there as well? Or do you use real name...thanks!

I don't know anything about Twitter. I like pinterest. But I will say, I created an account, username etc. then unsubscribed. I'm sure I just wasn't doing it right, but I couldn't get the whole page with all sorts of things on it to come up after I joined.

If you type in pinterest dot com, that's the page I wanted. As soon as I unsubscribed/closed my acct. I was able to get that page again.

Pathetic I know, haha. I like pinterest without being joined. You can search for anything.

We grew "Lundy Lane" and I found it to be a very lovely mostly-yellow Pernetiana. Its' foliage is a very light-medium green, and very attractive. One caveat: of all the Pernetiana roses I've grown it suffered the most badly from blackspot. I have an organic rose garden and never sprayed it with anything other than Cornell. It continued to bloom c. 3 weeks later in Autumn than my other Pernetiana roses, which also endeared it to me. For comparison, these are healthier Pernetiana roses for our area, near Oakland, California. I never needed to spray theses with anything: "Duquesa de Penaranda" the healthiest of all Pernetiana roses in our area. The climbing form is fantastic!!! "Soliel d'Or" "President Herbert Hoover" the most fragrant of the Pernetiana roses to my nose. "Gruss an Coberg" "Mari Dot" a fabulous Dot rose but very small on her own roots, I'd love it on rootstock. Luxrosa

Circuspeanut. . . love your kitchen! Was definitely an inspiration to me as I was planning my own renovation, thank you! I remember you posted a photo of your stove completely disassembled that gave me the courage to take on a project too! Have you moved on to a new kitchen now? I think I remember seeing a post with all sorts of kitchen planning ideas and some great renderings. . . thought it might be you. Francois, it looks to me like your stove is one of the more basic Wedgewoods. From what I have been able to gather, Wedgewood offered a broad range of stoves from single oven apartment size units with simple burners to the full dual oven rigs with 4 and 6 burners with simmer settings. It seems to me that you'd want to decide if the stove is sufficient to meet your needs before deciding to spend money on restoration. At the very least you'd have a basic unit that is more finely made than any basic stove you'd buy today. I started out considering a 40" Wedgewood with a broiler oven on one side and a bake oven on the right but I decided that what I really wanted was a double oven model because my kitchen is on the small side and can't really accommodate wall ovens in addition to a cook top. Would probably have been happy with a 6 burner model but the fact that the one I just found has had only one owner and has been maintained nicely meant more to me. . . plus, the built in griddle looks really cool! I just ordered a newly published book on vintage stoves that is called "Old Stoves are Hot". Looks like it gives a social history on these critters in addition to a discussion on the technical developments that led to the period during which the Wedgewoods and Okeefe and Merritts were at their best: 1948-55. There is also a chapter on the subsequent period of decline in quality where all things were made and designed with planned obsolescence . . .

Hi Sheila, I know you wrote this a while ago, but I was admiring your beautiful garden! I see that you have Hansa with some hardy geranium and I would like to do a garden bed like this with some rugosas as the backdrop to geraniums, astrantia, catmint, but was worried about the suckering. Did your hansa sucker? How did you control it? I am new to this stuff and am not sure how folks remove suckers from a rugosa in a garden bed, or if its a good idea at all. Eld, IWYM about choosing a different floor for your town house vs country house. My finish choices take on a whole different concept in the country. (Anything a certain distance outside of Honolulu proper is considered country). I’m not only going after look and feel but durability is key. We rent the house word of mouth and even the nicest people can cause damage. And yes to regional availability. It took a long time for floor manufacturers to realize Hawaii isn't all about dark floors. I can’t believe the bathroom floor you show is not the Hayes Oak because that’s more what my sample looks like (with even less variation). I’ll go back and look at others, including Calypso. There is a good thread on Goldin Oak that also includes pics of Makkah Oak - who makes up these names? someone who couldn't get a job naming paint?? LOL. And I think I’ve seen the thread on Hayes which is what sold me on it in the beginning. Ally, that’s my concern - ending up with something that’s too dark. I initially wanted something that showed a lot of imperfections because…..damage. But it sounds like that may not be too much of an issue. As I mentioned, I will likely be limited to local stock. I fear if I special order I will have to wait until 2024 for delivery. I really appreciate these comments. Thanks so much!

No not pathetic at all katlan in fact I thought I was pathetic for asking here. I browse pinterest too, although not enough to really get the hang of it. I haven't spent a lot of time with it though. I probably best stay out of things I don't understand..look but not join. LOL

I can't quite understand the twitter craze. Celebrities or whomever post what they're thinking or doing or what's going on for all of their followers to see. Maybe I'm just not interested in knowing how much Kim Kardashian spent on a pair of shoes along with a picture of her in the shoes. Maybe I just don't care to know what everyone I know is doing at every minute of the day. Maybe it's just me?? LOL

I have browsed Pinterest but never signed up. When we did our kitchen remodel, I browsed Houzz a lot. What are you looking for? Social entertainment or decorating ideas or???

I don't really want to follow the celebrities either..I am more curious about twitter than anything. I thought you could do follow ups on current events there.
Regarding pinterest, I thought it looked like a good place to share ideas, hobbies. I really don't know much about it though.

I got on Twitter when it came out for the news aspect of it but REALLY stuck with it because of airlines customer service help on it. I fly mostly Southwest and you can get AWESOME service by using their twitter to get help in airports etc...I have friends who use it for that too and swear you can get better help and better upgrades on it. there are also lots of deals from companies just on twitter.

Pinterest is a wonderful addiction when I have time. I found that as soon as they opened and for about a yr used it alot. Since summer thou I have not had much time, of course that was after I kept bugging friends to get on LOL. again you can get deals on things, find cool craft ideas, find decorative things to buy etc... It is the equivalent of tearing out magazine pic's and articles, a hobby i used to have LOL ;-)) ~ liz

I had joined twitter the very day it came online, several people I knew did also. Well with in 24 hours I had I kid you not hundreds of emails in my inbox from people wanting to follow me on twitter!! some I knew some I didn't, some I have no idea lol but it scared the bejeepers out of me and I went and closed it. I have seen there is someone else now using the ravencajun name, I am definitely not the only one LOL.

I love Pinterest. You can find a lot of good ideas, recipes, etc. on there. The only problem is that it can be a little addictive.

Twitter, on the other hand, I just haven't been able to get into. I've looked at it & even signed up for an account. I haven't used it though. DH is on Twitter & seems to like it. If you follow many people the amount of info (especially if they tweet often) becomes overwhelming.
