I'm reading (and enjoying) "The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry."

My friend has just finished a book for younger readers called "The Butterfly Basket." I'll start that next.

I just finished "Mistletoe promise" by Richard Paul Evans, all I can say is WOW! This man has some imagination to be able to think up this story. Excellent!

I'm reading Sudden Impact by William P. Wood. It is not connected to the Dirty Harry movie by the same name, although it is a detective mystery with a scattering of unsavory characters set in California.

I am lovin' it. It begins with the readers know who did the crime, but there are other layers and you have no clue who, or how, the person will be found out.

William P. Wood is a former deputy district attorney in California, now turned author. I found his biography interesting, too.

I just bought Still Life. I was seduced by the book's description and a slew of good reviews. This will be my first Louise Penny novel (plus I think it's the first one in the series).

Good to read about everyone's choices.

The Escape by Baldacci. I can not put it down!

I'm still reading the classics that I should have read years ago and really enjoying them. Just finished Of Human Bondage and now into East of Eden.

I'm currently reading the Myron Bolitar series by Harlen Coben. I'm on number 9 right now (I think there are a total of 10 in the series). They are good, but not great.

Eileen, Baldacci is one of my favorite authors. Can't wait to get that book!

Just picked up "The Mistletoe Promise", started it last night and almost done..What a great story....Just finished, "The Burn" by James Patterson (excellent, as always) and also just finished "Tough Customer" by Sandra Brown, also a good read....I think I have 4 other books going now and it's hard to find time to do what I'm supposed to do, lol.....But, I always say, it keeps me out of the bars or street corners.....

OK Sunny and Joann you talked me into it. I just ordered "The Mistletoe Promise" for my Kindle. I usually don't buy romances but this book looks like it has a bit more meat to it. I'm reading another book right now but just may put it aside and start this book.

I'm currently near the end of The Chaperone by Mary Moriarty. Good book; it has as a character, Louise Brooks as a fifteen-year old who was later to become a silent movie star and lived a rather wild life for those days. I looked her up in Google. She is the character that is being chaperoned.

I recently finished "The Long Way Home" by Louise Penny. I have read about six others of hers and enjoyed them all, however, this last one was disappointing to me. Has the best jacket cover I have seen! I just was not happy with the ending.

This week I am in Africa with Mma Ramotswe and Mma Katuski and the #1 Ladies' Detective Agency. I am way down the series line and I have loved every one of them. Gentle, calm, sweet, funny stories about good moral people in Modern Botswana. I even enjoy the few baddies, for without them, Precious and Grace would have nothing to solve.

I am going to read Gillian Flynn's other books (loved Gone Girl), but right now I am up to my ears in snack mix, ranch oyster crackers, candy, and cookies! Oh, and lots of Christmas specials and movies on TV. My friends daughter will be in two movies today, one on Lifetime at noon and the other on Hallmark tonight at 8. She has been in many tv shows. Her name is Torrey DeVitto. I love to watch her and of course her Mom is very proud!

Over Thanksgiving I finished the book I had brought and found one at my sister-in-law's place. Titled City of Thieves, it is a more-or-less true story of the author's grandfather's experiences in the siege of Leningrad during World War 2. It was especially interesting to me since at the same time my wife was reading a book her aunt had recently finished writing named I Was A War Child which was a memoir of her family's experiences in Paris during World War 2.

My wife and her sister would discuss stories from their aunt's book -- how her family had trouble keeping their art gallery operating, or a period when they had nothing but beets to eat. I would mentally compare their stories to the ones in the book I was reading -- how the protagonists building was shelled into rubble and how the residents were buying slightly sweet dirt from beneath a burnt food factory or "candy" made from glue boiled out of library books.

Given a choice, I think I would have preferred Paris. :-)

Ikayd, I'm sure you'll enjoy reading your new book....I just loved it and I noticed, the author has quite a few other books and I'll be checking the Library for those.....
