Whoever recommended this book needs a huge THANK YOU! It only took me an evening to read it and really, really enjoyed it...I then gave it to a friend and she stayed up until she finished it....Love, loved it and is passing it along...

This was the kind of story that just makes you feel good all over.......Too bad we can't have more of this in real life.....

I was me, I just loved the book and had to share. All of his books are really good if you haven't read them before.
I wonder.......How can he think up these things?

Thank you Joann.....I hadn't read any of his books but will have my list ready the next time I go to the Library......

My friend and I were both wondering the same thing...Normally, these kind of stories are written by a female......He is good!

I got it for Christmas and finished reading it the other day. Loved it. I have read a lot of Richard Paul Evans books. I fell in love with his writing when I read The Christmas Box. Kittywhiskers

Over Thanksgiving I finished the book I had brought and found one at my sister-in-law's place. Titled City of Thieves, it is a more-or-less true story of the author's grandfather's experiences in the siege of Leningrad during World War 2. It was especially interesting to me since at the same time my wife was reading a book her aunt had recently finished writing named I Was A War Child which was a memoir of her family's experiences in Paris during World War 2. My wife and her sister would discuss stories from their aunt's book -- how her family had trouble keeping their art gallery operating, or a period when they had nothing but beets to eat. I would mentally compare their stories to the ones in the book I was reading -- how the protagonists building was shelled into rubble and how the residents were buying slightly sweet dirt from beneath a burnt food factory or "candy" made from glue boiled out of library books. Given a choice, I think I would have preferred Paris. :-)

Thank you for your comments, JoAnn. Ove is obviously not your kind of book. I too am a picky reader and sometimes have trouble appreciating books that others have found fascinating. But there are lots of books to choose from for every reading preference. In fact, I'm thinking of featuring the Readers' Bill of Rights some week, where one of the points is that no one has to finish a book that they don't like.

If you enjoy "cozy" mysteries, have you read Donna Andrew's books? She does a series set in Virginia which features a main character Meg Langslow and her quirky family and an always unpredictable cast of animals. The bookstores have a new rerelease of two of her Christmas titles (Six Geese A-Slaying and Duck the Halls) in one volume "Two Deadly Doves". Another series I like is Betty Hechtman's crochet mysteries---her Christmas title is "You Better Knot Die."There are always a few patterns at the end which feature in the story. Again, lots of humor and a fun series.

If you haven't read "The walk" series its fabulous there are 5 books in it. "Finding Noel" is another good one. I loved "Promise me" also.

I just bought it today at CostCO~~~I am going to wrap it and put it under the tree for me. So I can not start it til Christmas day ;)

I've read all his books.... Really loved the Walk series and couldn't wait for the next edition to be released and certainly couldn't wait for my library to make their purchase. Another very good author is Nicholas Sparks. Both write stories that touch the heart,
