We loved "24" (had never seen it before). I've heard "House of Cards" is great. I'm currently watching "Damages". If you haven't seen "Scandal" and "Revenge", they would be good.

7 seasons of Columbo! (oldies but goodies), and still great laughs with The Dick Van Dyke Show!

(I didn't look at whether all of these were available for streaming or whether they are DVD only -- I did check on Monk, that is not for streaming. I'm pretty sure I missed some episodes -- so disappointing!)

Just finished the first season of The Killing. Love it. Call the Midwife takes place in the 50s. Also a good show. I lived near Ipswich during the early 60s, so can relate to the era.

Am I the last person on earth to watch Downton Abbey?? I wish it could go on foreverâ¦...

I love McLeod's Daughters. Have rewatched the entire series a couple of times.

Heartland is an excellent series for the whole family.

Going through the Netflix 'streaming' programs listed on its website, I don't see anything new to us that we'd watch. Is there a better selection available on DVD's by mail? We'll need to find something to view for the next two months while we are away from our local library's good collection of DVD's.

We mostly view Brittish series -- quite up to date with "Midsommer Murders" --which must mean we've seen nearly 100 of them.

We just finished being enthralled (and thoroughly depressed) by season one of "Vera". "Hidden" was an exciting mystery in six parts -- with David Suchet in a smallish part.

"Midwives" has a new Christmas special on our PBS Sunday evening. (Dec. 29) And "Downton" returns with new episodes in January.

Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. I, too, didn't care for the American version of House of Cards, but I think the UK version may still be on streaming. I saw it a few years ago and it was great. Marvelous acting.

I've been reading this thread. Never heard of Longmire or Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, but added them to my queue. I love Midsomer Murders.

I can always count on Frasier to make me laugh. For something light (but not terribly comedic) with characters I like, I can recommend Eureka.

I enjoyed several seasons of Brothers & Sisters.

Several people have urged me to watch Lost. I put it on my list, but haven't watched it yet.

If you like British police shows, I heartily recommend "A Touch of Frost". It was streaming the last time I checked.

We loved Friday Night Lights and Lillyhammer.

Chisue, are u going to b near a library? Maybe you could get a temporary card and check out videos. Or you could easily sign up for Netflix DVDs by Mail. They are very helpful on the phone if you want to call them. You can keep the service for as short a time as you want.

As for DVDs you might like Homeland if you haven't seen it.

The Big C is a great series also

We are completely hooked on Scandal and Suits.
Each episode is different but they have a continuing back story. Does that make them a series?

Revenge is also an ongoing storyline. I'm getting a little weary of it though.

We also like Nashville. Something light is Hart of Dixie which is very enjoyable.

Socks -- We have library cards for Maui. However, the library there are stuck 'somewhere back in time'. LOL I found a more current collection of books at the Salvation Army store in Kihei! We are very spoiled with the collection of DVD's at our hometown library.

Norar -- We've enjoyed all the "Touch of Frost" episodes -- along with most of the things I see on the Netfix 'menu'. What's new there is old to us.

Maybe we'll try Redbox during January and February. All suggestions for our 'tropical teatimes' greatly appreciated!
