Shower gel?

I need to find a new shower gel. Any suggestions?

I used Bath & Body Works for years, but I think they changed their shower gels about a year ago. It smells the same, but what little moisturizer it used to have is gone now. And this time of year my skin gets really dry.

I don't like strong scents.

Shikai All Natural Moisturizing Shower Gel (Yuzu--Japanese citrus scent, which is not strong). I got it at Vitacost.com, where it comes in other scents too. You can check out the excellent ratings.

My granddaughter gave me a pump bottle of Jason's Aloe Vera Body Wash, and I like that too.

I buy mine at Target. Usually Dove or Olay brands. I don't like the strongly scented ones.

I use all of them too!! Neroli has a very pronounced green note and while it reminds the real flowers, it is more penetrating and high pitched and kind of bitter & definitely not sweet!... I wouldn't call it heavy or spicy because it lacks warmth but I guess if you compare it to its chemical shower gel imitations.. I also happen to have petitgrain at the moment and it is vaguely close to neroli but lighter and kind of more lemony or fresh and airy.. more similar to the real leaves than neroli is to the flowers.. The ones closer to the "real scent" are bergamot oil, from the rind of citrus bergamia which is a very beautiful citrus cologne-like scent and orange oil from common oranges which is exactly like the orange peel smell you get when you peel them, you can feel the stickiness too!!These are impressions by smelling them right out of the bottle of course, when they are used, usually much diluted, they acquire a somewhat different character.. we are really missing an essential oils and perfumery subforum here!!

Hello ladies and happy every Holiday I missed. To those of you who do know me, I am back and mentally back on track (I think). To those of you who don't, well I was I am a member, love everyone here. Went away to do some great mission work and had some very tragic things happen. Many hours of therapy later, and actually returning to the Dominican I think I have healed, I am not bitter, sad, or frightened to leave my house any more. I am able to talk about it and I feel that I can share with postive feelings now. But enough of that. Am I to late for April? Please tell me that I can play in April? Max is 4 and we just looked at Co-op preschool. HE is a mama's boy and didn't want to go to big boy school yet. Maryanne~ I have a box for you that I need to send, but um lost your address.. So Merry Christmas when it comes. Ahh. I just don't know what to say or who to say it to because I am scared I will leave someone out. I tried to read as many posts as my brain can handle, but I am sure that I will need some help. Babies and ornaments, tornados and ahhh.. I am not in Kansas anymore. Sorry to be so slow getting back here, I went to PA on Sunday and had been told by my ISP that the "Toll free number is good from anywhere you go" I would not be surprised if it did not work in Alaska BUT, and adjacent state is certainly part of "anywhere" in my opinion.Anyway, no computer access for three long days Then to complicate things even farther my notebook with all the names disapeared from the table in a confrence room where I left it when I went for lunch. It is of no real use to anyone but me so I felt safe leaving it. Hard to think too, that a housekeeper thought it might be "trash". It went "somewhere" Everything's gotta be somewhere. Anyway, I am trying to play both catch up and, to reconstruct the set of names of who is sending to who. If you have NOT sent me the name of who you are sending to yet please send it ASAP. If I do not hear tonight I will contact you direct in the morning. I need to get all the names out to everyone an d I know there are 4 or 5 who have not fotten names. Cetaphil skin cleanser, so gentle and moisturizing. Doesn't give you any suds but is wonderful during these dry winter months.

I've used Cetaphil on my face for years, but never as a body wash.

Another tip for dry skin is to add a few drops of a good oil to your body lotion. I use pure avocado oil (NOW brand, which I get at Amazon), but some people have had good results with coconut oil. I also like almond oil.

If you apply it right after your shower, it soaks right in, leaving no oily residue, especially if combined with lotion.

I use the Vanilla brown sugar, or pink grapefruit from the Dollar tree. It swells good to me for a $1.00

I think there was talk here or on the Home Dec conversations thread last year about Argan oil for dry skin. I picked up some shower gel last year at both Marshall's and TJ Maxx made by A La Maison. One had coconut and argan the other had olive oil and argan. $4.99 for 16 oz.....lasts a long time and you don't need much if you use one of those nylon puffs. No overpowering scent and really great on my dry skin....much better than Dove.

Thanks for the replies. I was making an Amazon order for Christmas and added a bottle of Shikai, vanilla scent to my order. I'll see if I like it.

Next time I go to Marshalls I will look for A La Maison.

I use Dove bar soap on my body, it leaves a nice soft feeling on my skin.

Another vote for Neutrogena Rainbath. Large pump bottle at Sams was around $20, but lasts a long time. Also like Olay.

Neutrogena Rainbath. I buy it at Costco, so I get a very big squirt bottle that lasts a long time, and I wait for a sale so I get 4 dollars off this huge bottle.
