Snow, snow and more snow
Comments (18)The last time we had any measurable amount of snow was in mid-December (about a foot). Since then, pretty much just flurries now and then. We haven't had a winter this dry for a long time. WE'RE supposed to be the Great White North, but instead, you guys are getting walloped! You may have a few more broken canes in the spring, but, like everyone says, the snow will insulate and give much needed moisture to your soil. Hope you are all o.k....be careful not to overdue the shoveling. You wouldn't want to put your back out just before spring. Judith...See MoreWhat's a good type of snow shovel?
Comments (55)Sorry to hear about your shoulder surgery too, DTD. I'm sure you will make a lot of progress with PT and hopefully be ready for the gardening season in the spring. Sounds like you picked the right time to have your surgery and recovery. :-) I was just looking over this thread again. This year, we are thinking along the line Bill is thinking tooâ¦lol My husband does all the shoveling lately but this year he's dealing with Tendonitis on his elbow and even using the electric shovel, is problematic. It has to be lifted and moved often enough to become a problem when your arm is not 100%. And even the adaptations for shovels for ergonomics don't seem to be workable. So as much as I enjoy the snow, we're really glad we haven't had much of it so far too....See MoreSnow, Snow and more snow!
Comments (9)Coeur d'Alene had 127 inches of snow by yesterday and then a little more fell. This was a new seasonal record and nearly double normal. Seems like when I lived right in town about 30 years ago, there was more snow to deal with. I think that might be true but with a certain amount of melting, some drifting, and days of shoveling - it's real hard to make much sense out of the landscape. I'm considering "burrowing" next. There were winds of 35 - 40 mph with gusts near 50, today. Lots of roads in and out of communities in the Columbia Basin are closed because of drifting and white-out conditions. I think it is now going to turn to rain except for up where you are, Margaret. And, even western MT may get rain by Sunday. Hopefully, there won't be very much. digitS'...See MoreIt just keeps snowing and snowing and snowing
Comments (15)We are south of Deptford; probably 5 minutes away from rt 42 & the AC expressway. Also in the same boat with a hubby that can't shovel; although he did try early yesterday; moved his pickup, pushed snow around and went back inside. My son & I did the driveway the night before; son did what he could before DirecTV had him work. I went out a few times during the day; son came home helped me shovel some more.. seemed like that was all we did yesterday. At one point we had the street cleaned really good; I'd dug out the sewer & hydrant; made a path for the water to drain; well last night about 9:30 the plow came & left a 3ft high wall in front of my driveway & plowed the sewer & hydrant back in. I almost ran after him I was so pissed. Son went out; told him to just dig out one car width so we could get out if need be; he shoveled the whole thing. Thankfully today they did not route him so he was here to help shovel everything again. We got the sewer & hydrant dug out again. I was shoveling around the house; trying to get snow away from where the basement is leaking; stuck my shovel in the snow and what did I see? A huge bunny sitting in there. He'd made himself a house in the 3ft high snow next to my steps. I'd heard we were getting more snow Saturday but I guess it's been changed to Monday. Lovely. The ground is so soaked we are going to have water problems :(...See Moreeccentric
