Absolutely! Every browser I know has an option to not view pictures. I don't know what program or version you're using, but my (relatively updated) Internet Explorer has it under Tools-->Internet Options-->Advanced (tab) and then you scroll down to the "Multimedia" section and uncheck the box marked "Show pictures". In Firefox it's slightly easier: go to Tools-->Options-->Content (tab) and uncheck the box marked "Load images automatically". Your program may vary somewhat, but it should be very similar.

I went looking for some info on Hostas, and now I can say I am a hostaholic. From there I discovered the Winter Sowing forum and also discovered that I have a very addictive personality. Now lets see, I go to the pond forum, annuals, Canadian forum ect. ect. ect. I really need help. lol Hubby doesn't know what to do, know I have bags of potting soil stashed in the basement, containers coming out the wazoo, Hostas that I don't have room to plant, seeds drying all over the house, plans for a pond next year and a new garden bed that I'll be starting any day. I like the fact that old threads drop off, although I'm not sure that one year or a maximum post count are the best ways to do it. Real old threads often contain dated material that no longer accurately reflects current conditions. And then there are the bozos that just have to reply to something posted years ago resurrecting yet another dead thread. This happens all to often on the other boards. I don't personally care for vBulletin bulletin boards. I much prefer phpbb. There are a couple of things I think really need attention in the GW board software. The search function plain sucks, and we should be able to edit and/or delete our posts for at least a few hours. By the way, this isn't a free service. It is advertiser supported. There is a big difference between that particular business model and free.

have you tried with a different browser on your cell phone? I have several browsers I use on my phone, firefox, opera mini, and dolphin HD, all are very good but some work better for some things than others. For GW I often use firefox since I can add on adblock plus and easylist which helps block a lot of the ads that make it almost impossible when on a cell phone sized screen. So you may want to try that they are all free and will install in seconds, it you decide you don't want them just go to manage applications and uninstall it. Your phone runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread so all of those browsers should be easily available to you from the market. you might also go into your browser settings on the phone and clear all the cache and cookies and stuff see if that might help. To do that on the phone open your browser window then click on your menu button then on the more option , then settings scroll through there to find the cache, cookie, history form data etc try clearing all that it might have saved a corrupt cookie or something.
