Update on Jim

I told you that the MRI that Jim had last week was Cancer on the bone on his right femur. This week went to the Heart Care Center to see the doctor who did the surgery on his right leg. They did an ultra sound and said that the stints were fine and there was no blockage.So they were going to do radiation. When we went to see the Radiologist yesterday, she said that the MRI was terrible. So she sent us to see an Orthopedic doctor. He took an x-ray and said that his right hip is a break waiting to happen. He has been using a walker for almost two weeks and getting no relief from the pain killers. They are going to do a partial hip replacement on Monday. They have to wait until the blood thinner is out of his system.They are replacing the ball that joins the socket. They are hoping that this may get rid of some of the Cancer. This is all a nightmare. I know that a lot of you have been through similar things. I am getting to the point that when I even see or hear the word Cancer I want to scream. Please keep the prayers going for Jim and my family.

Thanks for posting Sandie; I have been wondering. It is awful to see a loved one in such pain. Yes, I will pray for Jim, you and family.

My thoughts are with you in this nightmare called cancer. The stress must be awful but don't give up hope because this replacement just might work for Jim. Take care of yourself.

denninmi I planyed a 55' row of prime jan tissue cultured plugs from Nourse Farms last yr. They grew very well, but I didn't get one berry. There were a lot of berries, but they didn't ripen. I think that planting them in May (and still covering them on nights of frost) didn't give them enough time to produce. This year, I am getting berries. I am hoping that continue to produce and ripen until the frost. I am pleased with the berries that have been harvested.

Hi Idiothe, sorry to read about your suffering, I wish you the best available recovery! Traveling is dangerous, a good constant diet at home is the best for your body. It might be even more dangerous as an older person. Even staying in one best hotel in Asia made me sick. Your story shows how terminally bad I could have had it when I got (food based) hepatitis during a 3 months stay in Turkey as a young man. Good luck! Bernd

Most of the snow melted here too (except for a scattered pile or 2 in the front yard) it should all melt by tomorrow. Today was very very windy. Im surprised there werent any wind warnings out because they were gusting probably in the 50 mph range (not too much damage around, but things were thrown a little). More snow possible next week, by then I hope to bring in my potted pindo palm. Good luck!

Yes I do know what you are going thru. It seems to me that every time I took DH to a Dr. it was a different procedure and yes I felt like I would scream too!! But I begin to get very definant and started asking lots of questions, and doing research on the internet. Cancer is NOT a fun thing, it has so many ways to go. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

So sorry he is going thru this-and you too. Its a living nightmare. Focus on the bright side-a new hip will get rid of the agony he is dealing with now, and take away some of the cancer too. Sending prayers for you both.

You and Jim have been through so many 'procedures'. Are the doctors just "full speed ahead" with ordering them? I ask because when my mother had leukemia, her doctors just kept on and on. There was no end to what they could *try*.

So sorry -- especially for your husband's pain. That is so debilitating.

just hoping that the ortho doc is correct and he gets a cleaner bill of health on the hip! recovery for my mother was tedious, but finally got her home (and alone) before I left made sure she had this doorway/chair daily routine...

Hoping for good diagnosis and excellent treatment for Jim, with hopes for full recovery and minimal pain and discomfort along the way.

I'm glad they will be doing something about his pain! And I'm glad he didn't take a bad tumble when it might have finally broken. Push for stronger drugs because right now they will only help with his bad pain--perhaps they have already. Being in too much pain can make you pretty crazy. I'm so sorry you are both going through this Sandie, and will continue to pray for both of you.

Sorry your husband is in such pain. Hope the operation will help. Cancer is something you hate to hear. For me I have been cancer free for 20 years now after having lung cancer. It can be beaten. I will keep you & your husband in my prayers.

I can only imagine how you must feel. Life has thrown you some bad curve balls, you have every right to feel anger. I will pray for Jim daily, I promise.

If you feel like screaming DO IT! Sometimes it helps to ease the stress some. I've done it so I know it works. I've just sorry you have this to deal with.

I want to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers. I am a strong believer in prayer and Jim is too. I can't believe how well he is handling this. We made one more trip to the CC today.Today was my turn.Had to have my port flushed. After that we came home and I told him that I am going to duct tape him to his recliner until Monday. The doctor did order a stronger pain medicine. It is a patch.. It seems to be helping a little more than the pills did. Thank you again.

Continued prayers for you and Jim.I hope the surgery will bring him some relief,and hope they find a way to stop the cancer from spreading.Hope you are feeling better as well.I kept my port in for over a year after I finished chemo,just in case.
