I am so sorry you are sick. You have been through so much that you certainly don't deserve this. I'm sure your daughters will understand if they get IOU's. Your health comes first, so if you don't get everything done, don't worry about it. Hopefully, you will be well very soon. Hugs!

I have had that nasty stuff since we got back from Oklahoma for Thanksgiving. I too am on many immune suppressing drugs so it is about impossible for me to kick these kinds of things. Mine moved into sinusitis and bronchitis infections so my doctor called in some strong antibiotics. I took all of those and still had the infections so I am now on round 2 of a different kind.
Right now I have no voice at all when I try to talk I sound just like Marge Simpson. The people at the stores yesterday were trying really hard not to laugh when I tried to speak.
My husband has now come down with it too so he is on antibiotics. He is not as bad as me but he has s strong immune system.
I can not tell you how many bottles of Delsym I have been through for the horrible cough that wracks me constantly.

I sure hope you can get over it. But be prepared it is a bear.
For everyone I have talked to that has it, it always starts with a sore throat. It is not the flu but a very nasty cold. Once it turns into the bacterial infection in the sinus and respiratory tract the antibiotics can help before that not much helps.

Take care!! Stay hydrated and I recommend taking a daily vitamin to help support your system which is what my doctor told me to do.

One thing that helped me tremendously is using a neti pot for my sinuses it is amazing how much gunk you can get out of your sinues using a warm saline neti pot. I have the Neil Med one from walmart that comes with a bunch of the saline packets just add warm water and one packet and rinse from both sides. I did it at least 2 times a day and always right before bed. It was about the only thing that helped at night.

Im sorry to hear about your illnesses. I am joining you tho. Never usually catch this stuff, but I have the infected sinuses after having a doozy of a cold in October. The Neil Med that I 'remembered' did save the day..... highly praise that treatment. I'm just looking forward to starting the New Year feeling better. Hope you all do too!

Aw, so sorry you two are sick. I used to have a cold every Christmas. That was back in the days that I was out shopping a lot and the kids were in school, bringing home all kinds of germs. I would work myself into exhaustion with all the Christmas prep, so I was a sitting duck for germs.

I have been careful to get enough rest at night to help ward off colds or flu. I never got my shot -- bad me, but I will.

Gosh, I hope you all feel better soon. I dread getting those awful sinus infections and they always seem to strike during the holidays. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I don't contract a virus this year.

So far, my holiday prep has stayed on track despite leg and shoulder pain from spinal stenosis. I simplified my menus and decorations this year, though, as I just couldn't manage my usual level of work. I don't think anyone will mind if you can't do everything that you would like to do. Most understand how difficult it is when you aren't feeling well.

Jannie, are you in an area where the grocery store will deliver or where you can enter your order online and then just pick up at the store? My daughter uses the online ordering through Harris Teeter and they bring the order right out to her car. It is a life saver for her with three kids four and under. Hope you feel better soon. Satine

I agree with either having your daughter shop or ordering online and having it delivered.
This time is more stressful than it should be and our immune systems sometimes can't take the strain.
I echo what everyone else has said. Take care of yourself first.
Thinking positive that the checks will somehow arrive in time for you to cash it. Don't get me started on the situation with the post office!

Sending you both hugs. Your children are older and will understand. Your daughter probably would be glad to get your groceries for you. I wouldn't worry. Who ever said Christmas had to be celebrated on Christmas Day? A lot of families and blended families get together over a period of a couple of weeks. Don't stress about it but take care of yourself first.

I appreciate the well wishes. We have made it to Louisiana and are relaxing in the RV. I swear the bathroom counter looks like the cold aisle at the pharmacy. Between my stuff and his stuff and all the kleenex and various cough medicine. Good grief, and yet we are both miserable and coughing our guts out. I told my family we will see them as much as we can but this just wears you down so fast it's hard to do much.

I hope none of you guys get this stuff!

I hope you both feel better soon. Don't kill yourselves to do the usual things. You are sick-stay home and rest. You certainly don't want to infect others. Everyone will understand. Its far better to wait until you are recovered than to get a bunch of other people sick while trying to do everything for everybody. Don't take chances with your compromised systems!!! Illnesses can quickly escalate.

It's Jannie the OP and it's Monday morning, I had a pretty good night's sleep, but a lot of coughing, but thankfully today I feel much stronger, tho I still have no voice. I managed to get to the grocery store and got my Christmas food shopping done. The store wasn't too crowded at 7:30 AM and I knew where everything was, so it was simple enough. All I still need is a nice bottle of white or pink wine for Christmas day. Evrerything's on schedule to have my girls over Wednesday. But I still wish that dumb bonus check would arrive. Yes they are "big girls" (24 and 25) so they'll understand IOU's. Now I'm gonna just rest and take it easy the rest of the day. Good movies on TV all day...

It is a madhouse out there, at least it is here. I have to go out tomorrow and buy some shrimp for the Low Country Boil that is our Christmas Eve dinner tradition. I plan on going just as soon as the store opens. That will complete my shopping!!!

Merry Christmas! Well I didn't get my voice back for Christmas. Maybe by New Years.
I have the brisket in the oven and the beans and ham hocks are cooked so I have managed to get my part of the meal done.
I am still hacking my lungs up that has not improved. I am hoping it doesn't turn into pneumonia.
