sick now?!

I was off work the two days before, and Christmas day.
Christmas morning, I woke with a sore throat and chest tightness...not really congestion, cuz I was a coughing fool, but nothing coming up.

HAD to go to work yesterday, or I'd not get much of a paycheck. Not feeling any better today, but off I go again. This had been going around, and at least I didn't get it as bad as some at work.

I wish I could stay home. I hate spreading germs! Wish those who'd come down with it first had stayed home too!

It will be all about washing my hands a hundred times, and staying out of people's faces.

You are not alone. I woke up at 2 am on the 26th with chest congestion. This morning I am running a slight fever, so I am on the couch watching cartoons.....my rib cage hurts from coughing.

Advil, musinex and robitusin are my friends.

I was sick with a cold for about a week. It started with a sore throat, progressed to cough and chest congestion. I spent about three straight days in bed. Lots of fluids. I'm much better now, these things mostly have to run their course.

Chances are the CM flourishing in the back most likely had the benefit of much more timely waterings, not only from any addtional watering you might have given your foundation plantings, but also from runoff that came from the roof during rain storms. The Muskogee CM in front most likely received either less or less consistant waterings from rain events and any other supplimental watering you did in that area. If not, and if they both got the same amount of water, the nearby fairly full bush seen just to the right of the front CM in the photo, could be taking up enough of the water so that the front CM has only been able to take up much less or less consistant moisture than the one in the back. Be patient with the front CM and make certain it receives even and regular waterings while it is trying to recover. It is a good sign that the new growth is still growing and the CM is trying to recover. Take courage also in the fact that the leaves on the front CM did not stay small, but they have grown almost to full size. That is a good indicator the the CM is doing a good job recovering, even though there are other factors which did not let it recover as well as the one in the back has managed.

Don't know of anyone over 8 years old who would throw a tantrum over a ketchup bottle sitting on a table! LOL Learn something every day! Speaking of tantrums, I had almost forgotten about The Great Ketchup War over meatloaf, and that's probably about 8 years ago now too. How time flies.

dorothy, use the aerosol spray. Saturate the spot and rub with a clean white cloth. I've never tried the liquid so I can't say whether that would work or not on my spots. Mona

lamom, I'm glad your little warrior is feeling good today. I know you are making use of every minute that he feels good and has energy. Have fun today. Face/neck radiation is probably the most difficult to deal with, because not eating/drinking well affects EVERY other aspect of life. All I can say is hang in there. The radiation effect will get worse before it gets better, but it will get better. One of my current patients (almost 6) also struggled alot during his neck/face XRT, and lost lots of weight. He did much better with a G-tube for feedings, and felt so much better. If you haven't already considered that, I'd ask your PedOnc about it. Where is he being treated? I'm sorry your SS is such a pud. Some people never really learn...or are never taught. But I'm really glad that you were able to put your feelings about him aside long enough to acknowlege your grandkids birthdays. Grammas and grampas are so, so important for kids. This year, my FIL and his not-so-charming 4th wife, ignored my oldest (not their's, biologically) and our youngest (yes, she's theirs!) for Christmas. For whatever reason, they are snuggled up tight with DH's exwife and her husband. They didn't like the fact that SD wanted to come live here, and that DH helped her make it happen. They assumed we were pushing her or forcing her, or whatever. So they "punished" DH by not sending Christmas gifts to 2 of our kids---sent them for both of DH's kids w/EW....at EW's home. Both kids live here. And get this, the wife was never even MIL to exwife...go figure. I guess the point I am trying to make is that the kids don't understand why you wouldn't celebrate/acknowlege their special day. Our little one certainly didn't understand why Gramma & Grampa didn't send her anything for Christmas. I felt sad for her. I just cannot understand why they would do such a thing, even if they don't agree with the custody change.

I had it too; started over Thanksgiving weekend. Probably would've been gone a lot sooner, but I don't tend to rest & take care of myself.

Be careful of Robitusson. Don't take the "DM" stuff. It can really raise your blood pressure!

All of us were sick except my older son. My first grad grandson caught something at school and shared it will all of us. His poor parents caught it twice. Vomiting, diarrhea, exhaustion. I hope we have finally turned the corner. I fixed Christmas dinner and then couldn't eat it. My sister and BIL could not risk coming for the usual holiday. Then we cancelled dinner at our favorite place for tonight so that my visitng younger son could see his uncle and family.

Mine is still with me. It started right after we got home from Thanksgiving, sore throat then to sinusitis and bronchitis. I have coughed so much I lost my voice beginning of last week and I still don't have a voice, it's really getting old. I have been through 2 rounds of different antibiotics and it's not gone. I swear my ribs are cracked from the coughing. I should have brought stock in kleenex.
I am on so many immune suppressing meds that I have a very difficult time kicking any kind of bug.
I am just praying it doesn't turn into pneumonia. We head back home tomorrow morning and I am happy about that, I am going back to the doctor ASAP.

I feel like I should wash my hands after reading this thread. I am so sorry so many of you are not feeling well. So far I have managed to dodge any illnesses but back in the days when I was working and doing a lot of shopping I would get sick every Christmas. Exposure to too many germs and exhaustion will get you every time.

Wear a big, face-covering mask to work - maybe the boss'll get the message.

Thankful to have dodged the bullet - thus far, at least.

I also got the 'creeping crud' on Xmas afternoon. I ate a small bit of my son's dinner-came home & was in the bathroom from 5pm to midnight-on the 'throne' as well as the wastecan in front of me as I was vomiting at the same time! Totally exhausted today-never even got dressed but felt good enough to eat tonight! (I'll probably pay for it later but I made my Xmas gift from a friend..a 1 and 1/2 pound Lobster tail.)..Yummy-eating it NOW!

I bought a large size box of the ear loop masks before we left home. And kept a bottle of hand sanitizer hooked on my purse and one in my pocket plus I washed my hands every time I entered and left the places we went to. I told my family we would cancel our Christmas vacation to prevent this from possible spread but was told no way. I know this crud is around everywhere and in the air right now but I really don't like thinking anyone might get sick from my visit. I tried to take as many precautions as possible. I somewhat isolated the 2 of us from the others when possible. Being able to stay in our own RV helped too.
I am sure glad we didn't get the vomiting and diarrhea kind!

I just read an article that said studies have shown that taking a small sip of strong spirits can stop a bad cough! I am not a drinker but I sure was eyeing the liquor store tonight! I might have to test that claim. I am afraid that would be as bad as drinking the cough syrup.

For those with a bad cough I have found something that has helped me a bit. And it tastes very good. It is for children and is found in the kids area of medicines. By Mucinex called mini melts they are for cough and congestion so contain Guaifenesin and Dextromethorphan. They are orange creme flavor much like the ice cream dreamsicle. They are little tubes of granules you pour into your mouth. Like Kool aid straws. They are very good. I would be careful with kids because these are just like candy. Easy to get them to take it but they might want more.
They are very easy to carry in my purse. I like it better than cough drops.
