Merry Christmas to ME!

From my very DEAR DH.

Back in the spring, before we moved, my car was vandalized twice in our own driveway. First time wasn't too bad--some light scratches on the door that were buffed out inexpensively. Second time (days after the first repair) was a lot more extensive--a deep X in the passenger door window and scratches in the paint of that door that went all the way down to the metal.

Expensive repair since we needed to replace the window and have the door repainted and striped--and we were a bit busy at the time anyway. We just picked up my car from the collision center--DH had it repaired for me for Christmas and it looks brand new again. It's my favorite of all the cars I've ever owned, and it tore me up everytime I saw the damage. I've had it almost 7 years and before the little vandal got his hands on it, it still looked new.

I am glad that you got your car fixed..really happy for you. But I must say it makes me MAD that someone had to vandalize it in the first place. What makes a person do things like that? What in the Hecko is wrong with them?

I really hope you have a wonderful Christmas and YES! Merry Christmas to you and your nice fixed car? ((( )))

Hi all! Patty! Thanks for sharing those pics. I hadn't seen them before. I think I need a few more tree's to try different ways of growing. ;-) Hi Josh! Yes, I know you do :-) See, another tree, and I could do as you do, and then let this one go to see what happens. I really want the pink variegated I saw at HD! It even had a nice size lemmon! 5gal. for about $25 if I remember. It does have several side branches, but short now and they blend due to the leaves. Mike~ Tree seems Ok today. Just checked. We had a hard freeze last night and I forgot to cover it(I'm sick and was in bed by 8pm! :-( ). But I have it under a shrub which is a pretty warm spot (micro climate) compared to the rest of the yard. It has a few yellow leaves, i'm assuming not fed well or at all by grower/wal mart. I will give it a shot of MG today till I can get better. Is it ok to move it to gritty mix this time of year? Or weather is so flip floppy! But it's been a warm winter with spring like days and cold nights. Yesterday was high of 51* but water in dishes outside froze. lol.. Today will be high of 53*. Warming up to 60's next few days. Or just pot up and put some 5-1-1 around it for now, just to get it in a bigger pot. Right now it's in a tall narrow one. A slip I think it's called. Bowie is a very good boy!!! Good for you, Maryott's will make anyone feel like it's Christmas. Ooooh! Look at the daffodils! You really got your money's worth there. I love looking at pictures with your lake. It is so pretty. What a view. Yes indeed, cats will most assuredly dig in your garden. I had totally solved it, but DH was insistent it was too dangerous. (a few small boards with screws through it, lay them with screw side up. I had to admit it would be me, not the grandkids who would go helter-skelter through the beds and step on them, but they surely did work well. Slate, huh? I'll try it, thanks. kay

Hi Alice, I am sooo sorry to hear about your well head. I have lived that very same experience with our family property. The well head died & well went dry about 6 months after my Grandfather passed away (4 years ago) in the middle of summer, it was really stressful. The positive for you & your family is the piece of mind moving forward that your well is good to go. The guy that we dealt with (3rd generation family owned well company, since the 1920s) told me that a good quality well head should last 20-30 years with good water conditions/good well configuration. You will sleep good at night not worrying about your well, & you deserve that Big-Time for all that you do on this forum helping people. Keep us posted how the well pump change-out works out. gschick, that's a fun link. Thanks! I am looking a lot at before/after painted pieces for inspiration. My garage is now half full of tables, nightstands and desks, etc., most under $20, all needing some love before we head south. This will be interesting since I have been more into wood refinishing in the past, but Florida seems to cry out for clean bright light colors. When I see a redone yellow or coral or turquoise or robin's egg piece, I think they are wonderful. I'll have to get over being timid and shake off the painting-wood-is-sacrilige mentality. I have time to think and pick colors, as we won't move for a year or two. The garage shop is shut down anyways for a couple months until spring. Way too cold out there to paint or finish anything!

If both times were in your driveway, I would get a camera installed to see if you could catch the culprit.
Seems intentional and vindictive.

We're pretty sure it was the little twerp (about 9 years old) who lives diagonnally behind us. I had told him previously to stop cutting through my yard and climbing the fence to go from our street to his.

We didn't realize that the first time happened there--we THOUGHT the first incident occurred at the new house. Until the second one which HAD to have happened back at the old house. After that, we installed a driveway alarm and it did catch the twerp cutting through a couple of times. We obviously can't prove he was the one who did it but we're about convinced.

No, not in the garage, but we live over 30 miles away, so hopefully....

And yes, it's very annoying that someone would do damage like that, I've been SO angry over it. And even now--I am thrilled that DH had the work done for me for Christmas, but when you get right down to it, the little twerp actually cost me a Christmas present--I'd have gotten something else, something fun, if it weren't for this needed (and wanted) repair.

I am happy for you that your DH got it fixed. My car is always in my garage at night and usually during the day also. I got some light scratches on my new car 3 years ago. I tried all the products that are supposed to make the scratches go away but a crayon worked the best.
