Why would you set it to medium? If it's an ad blocker set it up to stop all ads.
If using one of the big name browsers add adblock plus to it, they make a version for each of the browsers the hardest part is picking the one for your browser out of the choices. Extremely easy, ads gone. Period

Wanted to add if anyone is using an android device there's now a version of adblock plus for android. Just Google adblock plus for android to find the download link.

I was getting that too even though I had the pop-up blocker set properly. I think I was able to opt out of it by clicking on Ad choice. I don't remember where I found the way to opt out but poke around until you find it. It worked.

I feel the same. The ads are awful! There is one that covers the whole top of the page, and about an inch and a half down. It blocks the game I play on Pogo, so now I can't play the card game, because the ad can't be removed, no matter what I've done. "Ad choices" does not appear in my installed programs anywhere. Now what?

I have explained how to add adblock plus to every type of browser repeatedly including here in this thread . Just install it, takes 2 seconds, and no more ads anywhere.

Sorry to be a pain, but...installing adblock didn't change anything. I followed instructions for Windows 7, IE, and I have the pop -ups at High. No change. Ad-choice does not appear in the installations list. So after going to Google, and researching what to do, I'm still at a loss on how to remove the ad choice banner that covers the card game.
Anything else to recommend?

Easy Choice Plus is an add-on for AdBlock. Without it, Adblock doesn't do anything.

If you have ads or very large pictures, right click on them and adblock plus will come up with an option to make a filter. That stops the ad. I have stopped all the pictures in the garden web forums.

make sure under your adblock plus subscriptions to filters you have the easylist subscription turned on. go here click where it says add easylist to adblock plus

or you can do it from the adblock plus icon on your pc click it and select filter preferences

I see zero ads including those in line ones with my adblock plus and easylist

also once you have adblock plus and the easylist if you still see an ad run your cursor slowly around the ad box and watch for a small flag to pop up that says block click that to have it block that type of ad in the future. Also under your adblock plus settings make sure you have unchecked to let it allow certain types of ads.

I don't have any icon for adblock.
Nor do I have any ability to use filters. Adblock was downloaded and it appears in the list, in the control panel, but it does NOT appear in "Programs". (??)

There is no place to get to adblock plus, as you describe on your first post. When I click on adblock in the control panel, where it appears, it just asks if I want to uninstall it. That's it.

I clicked on Ad Choices then disabled/unsubscribed whatever it was, so we'll see if that works. It said if cookies are deleted, Ad Choices will come back. We'll see how this works. (I am a frequent delete of cookies and history.)

I don't know what you installed if you didn't get it from my download link, I suggest you uninstall it and go get the real adblock plus. There is a download link for every browser on the link I provided you just have to click on the icon for the browser you use, but if you use IE here I did that for you.

Adblock Plus installed, I guess, but Easy Link does not. I have rebooted 4 times.

adblock keeps telling me to close IE. It's not open anywhere I can see. It won't keep on with installation until the browser is closed. It IS closed!

Often times it doesn't fully close or there's a second instance of it running that is not showing. You can click control alt and delete all at once to bring up the task manager under the processes tab select Internet Explorer and then select end task, that will fully close it..

Lov_ what do you mean, did you download the proper one for the browser you are using, then did you install it? Which browser are you using?

I chose IE. I use Internet Explorer.

I did the c-a-d, and there was no IE on there. Nothing was running. How can I get to adblock if I don't go to the browser to open the http?

From the task manager, select the Process tab and find iexplore.exe, right click and select end task. It sounds like your Internet Explorer is hanging up and not shutting down.

Right, you must click on the processes tab in task manager.
Once you have gone to the download link I provided for adblock plus for IE and downloaded it, then you can close IE and follow the instructions above to close it in task manager, then click to complete your install of adblock plus.
It might then say that IE must be restarted do you want to restart now, yes you do. I have not done it for IE in ages so I don't remember exactly.

After following directions with the task manager, there are 12 lines that say--iexplore.exe! When clicking on the "end process", a block appears that says.." I'll loose unsaved data, and it may result in an unstable system. Are you sure you want to continue? "
Language like that is worrisome to someone ignorant of computer workings.
Do I end all 12 lines of iexplore.exe? Why will that cause possible instability?

No, it will not.

Microsoft does use 'grave warnings' just to bring attention to the fact that you are shutting down the application. As long as you weren't in the midst of filling out some online form, which would be lost, go ahead and end task on them. It would all be put back to normal with a restart of Windows.

How often are you restarting Windows anyway? It's pretty atypical to have that many instances of iexplore.exe running with all of your Internet Explorer windows closed.

(Maybe you have seen the recommendation on the Computer Help forum.) Is that a correct thing to do?
What else may it eliminate? I did Google adwear cleaner, but don't know what is the best solution.

Ravencajun is the master of that app and I also installed it on her recommendation. Did you install the Easylist too? It offers a bit more blocking power.

Try hovering your mouse over the banner and watch for a little tab that reads 'block' and maybe you can block it.

I would not run any type of cleaner, some are OK but some can really mess things up including in the registry. Especially if you don't have an exact name of something safe, lots of malware uses names very very similar to acceptable program names.
If you have easylist added to the adblock plus it should remove most ads. Be sure in the adblock plus preferences you uncheck the option to allow certain types of ads. If you find an ad it doesn't remove run your cursor over the ad and edges, if any little box pops up that says block click on it and it will add it to the block list.
