I wanted saddle shoes, but only the cheerleaders wore those. Until my junior/senior year when they switched over to athletic shoes. I'm glad, those saddle shoes (with bells. They always wore bells. I loved that) looked slick! I did wear penny loafers, with dimes in them! In case I had to make a phone call. Ha! Before cell phones and before calls went up to $0.35. Flats and boots outside of band concerts. Those, we dressed up for. My son's band is only required to wear a polo shirt with their emblem, black pants, and black dress shoes. We always wore concert dresses. At my son's school, the girls can wear skirts, but must be floor length, and the rest same as the boys.

loafers, and had the penny in the slits. Also wore saddle oxfords. What I really wanted was ballerina shoes, but that was in grade school. So guess that was popular back in the 40's. Very flimsy shoe. There was so little money in the family, sure that was not a shoe that would have lasted. Always got new shoes twice a year. Easter and right before school started.

Easter reminds me. We always got black patent leather shoes for Easter. I'd forgotten that. One year, I was able to get velvet with a gold heart, but usually patent leather.

Loafers I had a pair of red ones purchased from the Eaton's, catalog . Also a pair of saddle shoes which were brown and white.I have loved nice shoes all my life and at age 80 still have far too many pairs just bought a pair of silver ones for a wedding in October that I paid an arm and a leg for.

I don't really remember my shoes but I know I only had one or two pairs a school year. Not a different pair for every week day as most girls probably do now.

Anybody from the 70's remember boondockers? They were a casual boot?

As part of our uniform we were required to wear saddle shoes. 12 years of saddle shoes!

Penny loafers always worn with bobby socks. I still love penny loafers.

Later occasionally "tenny" shoes.

Weejuns with tassels. I think I wore knee socks in winter and I stuck my bare foot in them in warm weather. Had a pair of stinky sneakers (Keds) that stayed in my gym locker all year. I tossed them on the last day. I also had a pair of socks for gym that I never washed. When they got grotesque, I cut the foot off and just wore the ankle part, which was required as part of our stupid gym uniforms.

Summer, I remember having a pair of Weejun Sunjun sandals.

Almost always sandals. Even when it rained.

Flats or sandals, 1961-1965. I only had a few pairs of shoes back then...

I don't really remember, other than a couple of pairs that matched specific outfits. That was back when we bought 'outfits', we couldn't wear pants (certainly not jeans). I babysat for most of my clothes money. There was a dress code, a minimum length for skirts.

My first year out of high school I worked part time in a forestry office while going to Jr College (it was Weyco) and they still had a dress code, not even matching jackets/pantsuits were allowed. I was scolded for culottes (aka split skirt) (knee length and with stockings) when I showed up for the afternoon after attending classes. The head forester, crabby old guy ;) I see his son occasionally now and I shared with him that his dad had read me the riot act for being inappropriately dressed (he had also said disrespectfully dressed) and he really laughed, enjoyed hearing a story about long ago (1968) since his dad passed several years back, thanked me for telling him.

Platform sandles... I am sure I had some kind of closed toed shoes during the winter, but don't remember. I know I had a pair of boots or 2. Don't think we wore sneakers. It was 70's when I went to HS.
Ohhh and ballarina flats for dressy with my long dresses. I was a Rainbow girl. Had to wear LOTS of formals.

Platforms, boots, stilettos, sigh, wish I could still wear those sky highs all day now!

I can mostly remember wearing white leather high top sneakers. I had a pair of top siders (boat shoes) that I liked a lot. Thought I was one hot mama in stilettos...HAHA! Now you can't get me in a pair of heels!

I mostly just wore jeans and concert T shirts so the sneakers were usually the shoe of choice.

We wore Bass Weejuns with Woolrich (thick) wool socks. I can still get the socks,,,they're all wool and great in the winter. We also wore Capezio flats, which came in many colors...I remember having a turquoise and a red pair. They were $11 at Herpolsheimer's and I had to buy them out of my babysitting money. At $0.35 an hour, it took a long time to save up.
