Energy Audit

Recently participated in a Home Energy Audit program, sponsored by the state/utility company. Why not, it was free. The friendly, helpful person was right on time for the appointment, and was here 2 hr. The first step was following him thru the house, replacing old bulbs with CFL's. Got a bunch of those. None on a few lamps that used dimmers. Next, install new water saving aerators on the faucets. And a new shower head. Then, examine appliances and equipment, noting age and efficiency ratings. Lots of talk, and questions in the process, with good answers. All in all, no problem and quite simple. Worthy of the time involved. When done, a long report is printed out for you to keep. Recommendations of improvement are just that, you're not obligated to do anything. IE: perhaps a new furnace, water heater, stove or fridge, windows, and insulation would save you energy & money. It's your decision if/when you may want to replace them. Do you have such an Audit program, and if so, have you done it?
