I read that Bob Dylan will soon release an album of songs made famous by Frank Sinatra. (I kinda think of this post as a warning.)

We like Mel Torme's song, can't think of the name, but it starts, "Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose..."

In this book (which it took the librarian about 35 seconds to find - it was on the display table by the front door) it's called "The Christmas Song".

We won in our neighborhood this week too. Several younger families moved in over the past 5 to 10 years, and the menfolk like to do major light decorations. So we all donate and they string lights across the street from house to house and rent a special truck with "elevator" to do it. Then they pipe Christmas music and blink the lights to the beat. The first years, all the houses had the same lights on the front eaves, but now some people have strung their own lights on the eaves in different designs and colors. Most of the families fill their yards with every bought light up decoration possible, and so our city has awarded us the Community Spirit award again. It is a hodge podge, but it is festive.

The winner of Best Holiday Song/Artist was announced a few days ago, and Josh Groban's "I'll Be Home For Christmas" handily beat Nat's "The Christmas Song"---something like 80/20%.

Coincidentally I went to my neighborhood library this afternoon, partly to pick up one CD of Christmas music, and although they have quite a large CD selection, they had exactly six to select from in that category, one of which was Groban's "Noel", featuring the winning song, and one of which was Nat King Cole CD with his runner-up song!!

I decided to go with Josh this time to see what the excitement was about; one Holiday CD or album is plenty for me.
