The Eranthis should live if it hasn't already dried out too much. Expect at least a 50% failure rate on corms stored that long, but you might as well plant them in the ground since they only need to go in an inch or so. I've only had really consistent results with Eranthis from Old House Gardens--expensive, but wax-dipped to prevent dessication. As for the A. coronaria, plant them up in pots and put them in the attic. I believe B&B has instructions on their website and/or in their bulb-planting booklet. I forget which. Lisa

Tiff, Do your Solidago all bloom at the same time? It's must be sight in the waning sunlight. I would like to see pictures of each Solidago you have, please. I had a Solidago canadensis at the garden at the temple. I can't remember whether I planted it or it had been there before. Boy, did it run and fast! I also have native Solidago 'Wichita Mountain'. It's the loveliest of Solidago. It actually looks so different that people don't think it is a Solidago. Bumble bees swarm the spikes. Too bad I have no room for it at home, so I planted it at the temple for arrangements. No, I am not home yet, but may reached home tomorrow. We had to cut our trip much shorter than planned, because I developed an upper respiratory infection and very, very high fever. Could be because I had just finished a course of Prednisone that my allergist had prescribed for my newly diagnosed asthma. That's why I think I was infected easily. Saw a physician on Cape Breton Island on Monday. Enough of that. I still cannot get over how natural it looks. It even caught my husband's attention. And he never pays attention to my gardening. Hey Josh! Feeling a bit better today? I hope so. I have been worried about you:-) Tmc, there are a few ways to rid scale once and for good. Some with horticultural oils, others with alchohol, and yet others systemically. Of course I am an all natural person as much as I can be until there is nothing else that will work. To treat and rid scale effectively, it would be nice to first identitfy the species. Knowing the type of scale you have can be very effective since there are hundeds of different types. Is it possible to see a pic since some are not hindered by alchohol or oil treatments. Some do carry their eggs while others lay their eggs under their protective scale covers. Is it possible to get a picture, so one of our pest experts like 'Rhizo' can properly identify and we can go from there? If it is cottony cushion scale, it can be treated effectively with alchohol, this pest usually being the culprit in the past in my case. Make sure you mist every nook and cranny and repeat application after a couple of days. Please give us a pic if you could? Mike
