So true. It is an odd feeling to be an "orphan" at any age. Miss both my Mom and Dad.

My Mom passed away four years ago last month and I still miss her so much. When my siblings and I talk her name comes up many times.

I lost my best friend (Mom) just about 3 years ago. The hurt is still there, yeah, like when I want to just pick up the phone and chat. I could also hop on a plane and be at her house in an hour.

I lost my Mom 20 years ago. She died on Dec. 3. It was her and my Dad's 50th anniversary.I lost my Dad six years ago.In 2011 I lost my brother and sister and my other brother in April 2012. It still hurts and I miss all of them. I have a memorial garden in my front yard and every birthday I put up a memorial cross. Even after 20 years, I find myself wanting to pick up the phone and talk to Mom.

My mother has been gone 20 years! Dad 26! They are together!

Thank yall for understanding the pain....I am going to try and keep myself busy today so I won't think about it so much...

I still have my mom but my dad has been gone for 16 years. He is the one I would phone when something happened especially if something stupid happened in politics or the economy. I miss him a lot.

I will be thinking of all those missed moms and dads today. Especially yours Laura.

Many hugs, Laura. I am now 72 and have had to endure many losses, each of them are hard. I have lost my parents many years ago, one of my DH was killed in 1975 when I was only 33 and had three small children. My last loss is more recent. Two years ago this month, at one minute till midnight, I received a call that my second DH was not responding and was gone~ So it is at this time of the year, those "empty chairs" become so real. Blessings to you and hold on to those memories...they will get you through the bad times. (((O)))

That pain, the closeness seems to be there, no matter how long they've been gone...My Dad passed in 1954 and my Mom in 1999 and I often think of all the things they have missed in my life and my family's lives, especially my Dad...He would have loved being a grandfather and so proud of these kids...So many times I still go to that phone and start to dial my Mom's number and then I remember, I don't have the number for heaven....I know they are together, not in pain and smiling down.....Hold onto those good memories..................

I lost my Dad 27 years ago. I found out I was pregnant with my daughter Amanda the next day. I was the closest to my Dad. Oh how he would have loved her! And she would have adored him. She has heard so many stories about him over the years I think she truly feels like she knows him.

My Mom died in my arms 15 years ago. It was the single hardest thing I have ever had to endure. I can say now that I think I was truly traumatized. We were very close. I was the only one of 6 kids that didn't move away. We only lived about 2 miles apart. We talked or saw each other every single day. I miss her so much still that it can be a physical ache.

We do understand your pain Laura. Only time eases this hole in your heart pain. We are all here for each other.

My mother died in 1954 when I was 12. You never get over it. If you are lucky to have had a wonderful mother, quite probably her mother makes a wonderful grandmother for you too. I was lucky to have known my grandma too.

My parents died a month and three days apart, back in 1970, so I, too, know the pain of losing your parents.

But, Laura, even though your mother is not physically with you, her spirit certainly is. She will live in your heart forever.

Laura, My heart goes out to you. Loosing someone you are so close to does make you stronger. You have to be strong after a loss like that..

Lost my Dad 49 years ago from a heart attack, my Mom 43 years ago from a brain tumor, both my brothers from heart attacks 25 & 22 years ago.

My Mom & I were very close, just like my daughter & I were, so I know your pain. You will be in my prayers tonight.

My Mom was my best friend, and I lost her 2 years ago. No matter how old we are, it hurts when we lose our mom. I miss her every day, and miss our conversations and laughter.

I lost my mom almost 15 years ago to cancer. She fought a 10 year battle with it beginning when I was in college. She was my best friend and I still miss her.

My mom died when I was just 9 years old.I still have good memories,but she went far too soon.She never saw us grow up and give her gk's or any of that,but I feel she is watching over us,and I and my siblings know she would be proud of the way we all turned out.
