Ever tried Goldwasser? I used to be partial to it, but I don't drink that much.

I have never sipped Tequilla~~just the salt lick, lemon suck and shoot it down, of my younger years.

My DH loves his JD sipping boozes, he likes to keep them in the freezer. Do you sip the tequilla chilled or not??

I may have to try it~~I will be at my DD's house this weekend they have a full liqueur cabinet~~I will look for something to sip;)

My favorite fall cocktail:

butterscotch schnapps 3/4 jigger
1/2 wine goblet glass filled with sparkling apple cider
rim glasses with cinnamon sugar

In the winter I like a little Crown Royal to sip on the rocks..

My husband is a retired wholesaler wine and liquor salesman.....we used to get samples all the time.
I always liked Sabra. It is from Israel and is chocolate orange flavor.
Once, while in Montana, we found a Creme Brulee sipping liqueur. Oh, my.....I loved it.
And I love Cherry Heering.

I don't drink often, but I do like Cointreau, neat. I've got some here, I just don't think of it somehow.

A couple of years ago after a horrific week with my good friend (she'd had a death in her family), her SIL poured us all a shot of a cinnamon bourbon. It was amazingly calming and warming - but calm and warm and all I want are my PJs and my featherbed, not very productive.

When we lived in NYC and traveled often to Bermuda (my in-laws lived there), we would stock up on liqueurs at the duty-free shop. But these days I can't afford to buy many, and mostly use a few in mixed drinks.

In the old days (my old days), Grand Marnier was a favorite. And Drambuie, and Kahlua. And I think the one that Colleen mentioned too: Goldwasser. Did it come in a bottle with flakes of gold inside? My DH liked Galliano, but it tasted too much like licorice for me.

I get my son-in-law a bottle of Root for Christmas. The same company makes other interesting sounding liqueurs.

I never heard of Sabra, but it sounds delicious.

Not a liqueur, but I love a good single malt scotch with my coffee before bed!

Goldwasser ....... a hint of German. Orange flavor? Gold!!
YogaLady: Agavero is a Liqeuer, different than plain Tequilla. Yes, chilled.
ButterSHOTS is the Schnapps I like best.
Chocolate-Orange sounds good (Sabra).
Haven't wandered liquor store shelves in quite a while.
Make my own suitable versions of Bailey's and Kahlua to satisfy the craving.

Lochan Ora, but I don't think this is made anymore, or at least not available in the States. I did see a bottle in a window of a shop in Casablanca in the early 90's. Wish I could have bought it.

Blackberry brandy. I used to enjoy Cherry Heering. It think it was from Holland, can't find it anymore.

We'd stock up at Riise's in St. Thomas in the days we cruised the Caribbean -- and sometimes stayed St. Thomas/St. John. I think we still have some of their extremely smooth 50-year solera cream sherry. We had all those fruit-flavored liqueurs in their distinctive bottles -- banana in a bottle shaped like a bunch of bananas, etc. (More 'pretty' than good to drink!) For several years I'd make a rich eggnog with Grand Marnier to give as gifts -- until I used up our cheap supply of GM and priced it (with tax).

It's been years since we drank any liqueurs. Thanks for the reminder! I think there's a bottle of Irish Mist around here somewhere...

Bailey's Irish Creme. OldFixer, does the homemade taste as good as store bought? I've thought about making some, but that's mighty expensive if it didn't turn out tasting good.

Irish Creme for me. I actually prefer the cheaper brand called Ryan's over Bailey's. Bailey's taste like it has almond or something extract in it. I really don't like it much at all.

Now Irish Creme, I can can drink some of that! on ice. Always like a good White Russian made with Kahlua.

OldFixer, would you mind posting your recipe for irish creme?

I like to make my own liqueurs, too. The quality of the ingredients is the key to how good the results are. Great holiday gifts! I really (really!) like my Limoncello, but it's a pain to peel all of those lemons (no pith allowed).

Homemade tastes better with the Limoncello, as long as the lemons are peeled carefully and as long as very good vodka or Everclear is used.

I really enjoy many of those that have been listed here. Have a special fondness for Sabra, Cherry Heering, and Goldwasser.

Patti43: that's the best part about home-made, it's INEXPENSIVE. Well worth a try for your taste buds. Recipe to follow, per Katian request.

Katian: Irish Creme chilled, no ice to water it down. A version used for years. Source unknown.

1 cup light cream (half & half)
1 14oz can sweetened condensed milk
1 cup Whiskey (of choice)
1 teaspoon instant coffee
2 tablespoons Chocolate Syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon almond extract

Mix all in blender on Hi for 30 seconds. Put in tightly sealed bottle and refrigerate. Shake well before serving. Doesn't last long.

Sabra is also a favorite here, but it's hard to find. I also like Drambuie and Cointreau and also some sherries, which go down easity and don't leave me zapped.

Back in the day, I also liked Harveys Bristol Creme Sherry.

Nothing beats a good Cognac ....Courvoisier can't be beat....It's as smooth as silk and expensive but it only takes a small amount to sooth that spirit need...We even travel with it in the RV because at the end of a long day...it helps to unwind and to sooth a weary body....

I had Harvey's Bristol Creme Sherry at an outdoor party last year. My take on it was they were trying to duplicate the taste of Madeira, but not doing a very good job of it.

At our Halloween party a couple of weeks ago, someone brought a small bottle of Absinthe that supposedly contains wormwood. It had a Liquorice-y flavor, and was quite strong, but I don't think it will become a habit.

Courvoisier. Spotted this at the Northern Germany Duty Free Shop (taking the ferry to Denmark). Euro are equivalent to USD, but this was 10 years ago. ?? Note the clever Laser Beam protection display. Ruthieg_tx above must have quite a classy motor home!

not anymore... but on local show here in Detroit they had beers and ales to serve just like you would wine with holiday dinners....

I don't drink..but I bake with it..

I make my own vanilla and love it in buttercream frosting. I use golden rum.

My husband always has a big bottle of Jack..or Jim..he likes his on the rocks, in coffee or in the summer as Lynchburg Lemonade.

I do make my own Kaluha too.

Just before Halloween I bought a bottle of Adult Limeade..cool bottle..very tequilla tasting(smelling)I think it will make a great cheesecake..

Chambord is my favorite to add to Chocolate cupcakes or brownies..but I also like to add some Frangelico to creamcheese swirl brownies...yummm...

My son brought home some Pineapple Vodka..that smells good too...Oh and whipped cream vodka is good in frosting in place of vanilla.

I still have about a 1/2 gallon of Popcorn Suttons famous moonshine i break out for friends that visit. I myself don't drink.

I came across this in a newspaper years ago. Made it for Christmas gifts for several years. It is delicious and well received and enjoyed :-)

Must use "good" liquor. I set it up like an assembly line with several bottles which made putting it all together much easier. Bottles were from Pier 1.

Printed the "Spike" for future reference. I like Nog with plain old Amaretto added.

I like sipping Grand Marnier. Several mentioned Cherry Heering and I think I had that when I was young back in the 60s.
