| sometimes I surprise myself.
I had typed up a post on the Computer Help forum asking if I could replace the battery on my Magellan roadmate (gps). Gosh darn I thought. Why don't I check with google. Sure enough, YouTube had a video of it. Got the 6 screws out and DH removed the battery. Going to Radio Shack tomorrow to see about a battery. If not I'll order it from Amazon. and here we were talking about buying a new GPS. DUH!!! |

| I don't know how much a GPS battery is, but if your unit doesn't have Lifetime Maps, you might want to look into the cost of a new or refurbed unit with Lifetime Maps and live traffic updates. I got a message on my original GarminGPS that it was time for a map update. When I checked into it, the cost of 1 update was $50. I bought a refurb Garmin with LM and traffic for $75 inc shipping. |

| I'd call that a genius moment like they were discussing in another thread. |
