A Feel-good tv show

Tonite we saw the pilot of a new tv series. It's on the Hallmark Channel, and is filmed in BC.

It's called Cedar Cove. Andie McDowell is the lead and it's set in a quaint, picturesque small seaside town. You'd swear it was a Hallmark movie but it is a tv series.

I love that show! It recently finished the second season. The cast is great and the storyline is very good. (Plus, I adore Bruce Boxleitner!)

Jasdip, I just have a cheap inside antenna. Some of my friends in the county pick up more stations than I do. I also can't pick up our local ctv station in my living room which I find strange but when I had a television in the bedroom I used to be able to get it a 5 am. I got rid of cable in 2004, my neighbour bought me the analog box and the antenna years before the stations changed and set it up for me. I couldn't believe the all the new stations that appeared. I am in a good location. I am always scanning for new stations. I get better reception and more stations than some of the people i know who are paying for cable or digital and they don't get any of the local Detroit stations. I just think of all that money I didn't give to the cable company haha it now goes to Bell for my internet

Very few of the shows listed on here are what I would call feel good shows! My husband watches a lot of regular television re runs, all the westerns, but I do not have time to watch. I almost never watch television in the day. I do like a few in the evening and night, some cooking shows, As Time Goes By, A Place To Call Home, and would watch others from BBC if they were on here. You would think I would like to watch more television because as a child in or around 1948 we were the first to have television out in the country, had no inside bathroom but we had a television. My Dad started repairing them and then he started selling them. He used to repair radios in days of old. I would much rather read or color or embroider instead of watching television, now if something catches my eye, I would watch it. Sue

Bruce Boxleitner? Haven't seen him in years, and I've always loved him.
I'll have to keep my eyes open in the next episodes that we watch.

I like the character who is the newspaper editor. He reminds me a lot of Deacon from Nashville. Recovering alcoholic, nice guy, looking for romance and a little scruffy :-)

Caution- I don't want to burst your bubble and I know we all have different tastes, so stop reading if you don't want to hear anything negative about the show.

We've watched both seasons and I have to say, it's no Waltons or Little House. I really wanted to like this show, and I continued to watch it, hoping it would get better, but the scripts are pretty weak, in my opinion, and the acting is so-so, but the constant angst is annoying and seems forced. Everyone has angst in every episode, it's like the writers don't want anyone to have a happy, smooth life, ever, or if they are happy in THIS episode, just wait, we'll kill that happiness off in the next one.

The scenery is beautiful. The actress who plays Grace is fantastic, I think, and as cute as a button. She steals the show. And I enjoy when the judge when is actually on the bench and trying to get people to compromise and do the right thing without her having to getting too heavy handed, or when she solves a problem for 2 opposing groups.

Season 2 really focuses on the judge's daughter and she just seems to skate thru the motions, I can't force myself to care about her at all. And all the bad decisions (and there are a lot of them, constantly) that are made by the characters are so predictable. I hope the writers get it together or it's going to become a big negative soap opera.

All that said, maybe my expectations are too high for a show like this.

Is this the Debbie Macomber series? I loved her books and have most of them. But I could not get into the series on tv. The people just didn't seem real to me in what I imagined they should be. Enjoy the series I loved the Mrs. Miracle shows. Had't read the books. But will now.

I really enjoyed Season one and haven't seen season two yet...hope I get the chance.

Fell in love with the scenery and want to move there. :)

I'm trying to remember how I saw the first season since I don't have cable or dish...was it on Netflix?

Flamingo, that's how we feel about Mistresses. I find that of all the women the only one I even like is the sister..... Jess.

The psychiatrist is a twit and does stupid immature things that puts her career in jeopardy. I also don't like the store-owner. She makes dumb decisions as well.

FlamingO, I'm thinking more like you every day, 1st about Survivor and now about Cedar Cove, lol....I did really like the 1st season and couldn't wait for the 2nd to start but was so disappointed, I quit watching.....
I've read so many of the books I was beginning to get the series and the books mixed up....
But, I found the series, very boring.........

yes, its a Debbie Macomber series. I wasn't wild about it at first but I like it now. I also like the Jennette Oke series. When calls the heart I think.

I hope my complaints about the show don't spoil it for anyone who is enjoying it. We are all different! I'll keep watching for the positive reasons I stated, and in hopes of some changes. I usually watch while I'm fixing dinner, anyway. It's either that or Forensic Files, LOL.

SunnyDJ, it's nice to know we each have a kindred spirit! ;)
