spell check for firefox?

How can I add a spell checker, nothing seems to be working to get one.

It comes with. Go to Tools at the top of your screen. Then click on Options. In the window that comes up, click on Advanced, and select the General tab. Look under Browsing, and check the last box. It says something about allowing spell checking. Ask me how I know!

Thanks, I see I do have that one but I didn't know how to use it till a few min ago. All I saw was red lines and I had to click to make it work ...LOL

Amcour, If that's true, why is it not on my home computer (with Firefox) but the misspellings (my intentional 'useddddd') but on my work computer - it's the same browser - Firefox. Norma, If I understand you correctly (anyone's guess there), yes, Ma'am. Karen, It is a form of browser spellchecker - many typos go through unflagged because they, as you well know, are themselves words, just not the correct ones. When I've actually misspelled a word here (see 'wwrrdd' but not 'hear'), the word's underlined in red.

In firefox: tools > options > advanced > general. About half way down the dialog box is a space to spell check while you write.

"Can it be that a web site can control/override my setting of spell check in my browser?" I'd noticed spell-check not working on some sites too, but hadn't investigated. As it turns out, they can turn spell-check off, at least in a specific HTML element. Why would a site would want to do that? I don't know, perhaps just to make me feel dumb. iespell will work for your typing into the reply boxes here and other places on line that you would need it to. It should have put a little iespell icon on your browser toolbar. I never use IE anymore but I have used IEspell for years back when I did. What version of IE are you using? click up top on help then about IE and it will tell you the version. You might try Speckie add on. this might be helpful Add Spell Checking to Internet Explorer 9

Hey, Joann, I love that spell check, but only when I type in English. When typing in German, it underlines just about everything. LOL

Browsing is almost half way down the "window" of the General tab. Look down!
