Decorating plastic box-help needed

My soon to be 5 year old granddaughter loves crafts and for her birthday I bought a lot of supplies such as foam sheets, pipe cleaners, glitter glue etc etc. I also bought a nice plastic carrying case for her to store her supplies in and would like to decorate the clear plastic top. How would I apply her name and maybe some polka dots using some kind of paint. 1)what kind of paint? 2) since I am a bit artistically challenged how could I do her name and have it look even and neatly done. Thanks in advance.

You can pick up foam core letters in all colors or the stick on letters. I have used the stick on ones to put cute names on plastic tumblers for parties. There's so many different stickers available you can really decorate it up.
Then if she ever decided to change it they can be removed. Better than paint. I have bought them at Walmart and the hobby stores big sheets of them.

Raven, thanks for the suggestion. I didn't even think about stick on letters. For some reason I just thought of paint and wasn't sure I could do a neat enough job of it. I will go back to the craft store and look for bright patterned letters. Thanks! Satine

Yeah - I thought it was pretty interesting when I read the "tip" last Fall. And I figured it was worth the investment in a package of seeds to experiment! I planted the seeds right after Halloween, and then added a fresh layer of compost to the raised bed. It seems like I only got 50% germination of the seeds. But then - this was a pretty long hard winter. Next fall, I'll probably plant spinach in most of my raised beds. We love spinach. Anything we won't eat fresh, I'll freeze for use all year long. And I really like the idea of getting 2 crops out of 1 raised bed. Kinda like doubling your production!

I am so happy to all ready see reponses to my post! Golddust ... From what my DD described what she would like, the idea of a decorative plastic storage tote really makes the most sense as it should be pretty protective and should prevent anything from getting damaged in normal storage ... Jejvtr ... Thank you for those sites. I had all ready checked out the first one but I like that the second one actually has pictures. Brickeyee, Apparently there was some mis-communication about the use of plastic boxes with metallic clad cable. I knew that the clamps were rated for NM and presumed you were talking about the entire box. Spencer, Interesting question regarding bonding. Obviously we're talking about cable like type MC with a separate grounding wire or flex with a separate grounding wire. AC couldn't be used because there would be no way to ground the device ruling AC out immediately. If there was a fault and the jacket became energized the current would have to travel down the jacket until it reached a metallic box. I don't understand your comment about 100 ft up and 100 ft back. Seems like it would be a straight shot to me but maybe I'm not seeing something. If the code requires both ends to be bonded (I don't know) then a bonding lock nut seems to be the only way to accomplish that.

Have you ever checked out the "death row" racks at BBSs like Lowes or HomeDepot? There are times you can get a decent pot for a buck from such a rack because they've already succeeded in killing of the original occupant. This was one such purchase: For that matter, visit some thrift/second hand stores like Salvation Army or Goodwill. While there is no guarantee as to what one will find at such places, if they do have something which appeals to you, it will be far cheaper than what stores offer. Furthermore, if approached with the right frame of mind, you can find items which can be repurposed as pots. I have a number of ceramic pots that did not start out life that way. All it took was a diamond drill bit and some patience to turn them on to a new line of "work". These first two were originally bowls: Whereas this one originally contained a candle: While my tastes obviously run more toward ceramic pots when looking for decorative verse purely functional pots, the ideas still hold true for plastic pots.

I was going to suggest the same thing Raven did. I'm not a crafter but I've seen the foam letters etc. at Walmart.

Sticky Dots come in colors too. Put the extras in the box.

If her name isn't too long you could glue, rhinestones or beads on the top spelling out her name. My grand daughter has done something like that. Girls never have enough boxes. They are great for storing jewelry, hair accessories, or other treasures inside.

All finished and it looks great. I bought colored stickers to spell out "Clare's Crafts" diagonally on the box with felt flowers and butterflies to match scattered around her name. I am so pleased with it and Im sure she will love it. Next project is to figure out how to post pictures! Thanks again for all your advise.. Satine
