Yesterday two of my girls took Alyssa into Target and Santa was there. He was ready to have his picture taken with the children. They did not have that done, but he did give her a candy sucker.

Way, WAY too soon!!! I'm upset that there's a Christmas parade tomorrow morning (Nov.8) That is too early as well. Can they not wait till after Remembrance Day at least?? Dec. 1 is early enough for parades to start.

I am lucky here. Had a ton of stuff for Halloween available in stores, and yes some Christmas , but not much. Now everything is Thanksgiving and a bit more Christmas. No Santa yet, unless in Mall--haven't been there yet. Right now people are trying to do outside before the weather/snow etc arrives. It is expected this week and temps expected to be down to almost 0 a night already.

really nothing Thanksgiving in the stores here, besides the grocery stores.

I am again running away from Christmas this year. I will NOT buy presents, nor will I sent out much in cards.

My grand kids have all the rest of the family members topping each other in what they buy for them... and I will not make a presence there again.

You can call me Scrooge, and I will be happily accept that "compliment".

The other day at a gathering at one of the libraries dealing with "Decluttering ....", I suggested that many near-seniors are downsizing from their substantial home to shoehorn themselves into an apartment, so are having to winnow through their precious long-accumulated goods to keep the few most important ones.

So ... they will not appreciate your gift of something rather inconsequential for Christmas ... as it'll be somewhat in the way.

Just go visit them ... or take them out to a movie, dinner, etc.

Added a couple of other "joyful"isms ...

... and after the meeting a lady made my day when she came up to offer substantial thanks for my contributions, a couple of which provoked some laughter.

Christmas music on the radio station I listen to in the car has been playing for a while now....way too early...Even our grown daughter, who loves Christmas, says it's too early to start celebrating.

Our local mall pre-books the "Santa Experience" and the prime dates are already taken. I feel sorry for the children who are passing by and not able to participate in any way. Hard for parents who have to explain this to their children.

It seems really early to have Santa in the malls or to have parades. I guess, though, it's really not that different than what is done with any other seasonal change in the stores. Everything is put out way ahead. The summer clothes here were replaced with fall ones months ago. I was seeing fall clothes in the stores in late July/early Aug, when it was in the 90's here.

At my location, the red kettle Salvation Army bell ringers started today. Seems a bit early. They have an ambitious goal this year for the amount of cash they hope to raise.
