What's on your plate, for Wednesday?

A nice, sunny day for the most part today, then it turned cloudy. I raked 4 bags of leaves.

I bought some pork tenderloin and we had that with a sauce of raspberry jam (seedless) balsamic vinegar and dijon. Leftover mashed white and sweet potatoes and corn.

second day of having dh underfoot and taking over MY office for his! this new job is gonna kill me, lol... he has entirely too much free time!

sliced up a kilbasa, and opened a jar of navy beans, added diced tomatoes and cornbread on the side...

It was at least 10 degrees colder today and fairly overcast. Was supposed to get some sunshine but that didn't happen.

I had a hot ham and cheese sandwich and a bowl of cranberry beans. Quick and easy after another running around day.

Survivor tonight. Another night that during a two hour period, there are 4 shows I like to watch.

You can plant just about any herbaceous perennials (that go dormant in the winter). Something like a low, creeping sedum will also work well. Just don't plant something that has a permanent evergreen rosette of leaves or you will never see your crocus and they will die out. No rudbeckia, or white daisy, as these both maintain substantial ground-covering leaves in winter.

How precious. I know all of us who have this "dish-ese" want to know that our "stuff" will be passed down to someone who will treasure it as much as we do. My daughter only has 2 sons. No daughters. One day last week we were all sitting around and DH was teasing me about how he was going to be able to live VERY comfortably with all of the money he will have after I die and he sells all of my "treasures"! My 11 year old VERY macho,fishing and hunting crazy grandson turned and looked up into my china cabinet and said,"Papa, you can't sell the pretty green leafy dishes because I want them". YAHOO! Somebody loves my stuff too!! As soon as hunting season is over I will have a little time before it's warm enough to start fishing to show him how to set a pretty table with those cabbageleaf plates. Maybe I can even find a big white bunny for a centerpiece. I'm so excited!! Anyway, I know exactly how Grandma felt when that precious grandson said he loved her turkey plates! We go through most of a big bag of chopped kale a week, in our daily greens and fruit 'sludgie ', as an addition to a pot of field peas and rice, and cooked up like collards. Deeby, there are tons of vinegar based slaw recipes out there.....zero vinegar. I'm cooking up a pot of Rice Select mixed grains and rice, cooked with onions and green peppers, a big portion of crowder peas tossed in the pot. It's seasoned with some hot sauce and catsup. It smells so good! It'll go with some left over chicken from a few days ago and sliced tomatoes.

Recipe from The Brown Hotel in Louisville, KY. The Legendary Hot Brown Recipe Ingredients: 4 oz. Butter Flour to make a Roux (about 6 tablespoons) 3 - 3 1/2 cups Milk 1 Beaten Egg 6 tablespoons Grated Parmesan Cheese 1 oz. Whipped Cream (optional) Salt and Pepper to Taste Slices of Roast Turkey 8-12 Slices of Toast (may be trimmed) Extra Parmesan for Topping 8-12 Strips of Fried Bacon Melt butter and add enough flour to make a reasonably thick roux (enough to absorb all of the butter). Add milk and Parmesan cheese. Add egg to thicken sauce, but do not allow sauce to boil. Remove from heat. Fold in whipped cream. Add salt and pepper to taste. For each Hot Brown, place two slices of toast on a metal (or flameproof) dish. Cover the toast with a liberal amount of turkey. Pour a generous amount of sauce over the turkey and toast. Sprinkle with additional Parmesan cheese. Place entire dish under a broiler until the sauce is speckled brown and bubbly. Remove from broiler, cross two pieces of bacon on top, and serve immediately.

We have had about three inches of wet, sloppy snow today. I am not ready for this! I have a chicken enchilada from the freezer.

Rainy day all day, much chillier outside. So, we are having spaghetti and garlic bread. The only thing I have in the house!

Another new Dr. appointment. Don't like him at all. Perfect day for that Chili. Ha, those "hot" beans you add are not very impressive. I still add at least 1/8 bottle of Chili Powder to a 4 qt. pot. Then sprinkle in hot sauce at the table. Variety nite. 1) Chili with diced sweet onion & shredded cheddar cheese. 2) Chile Mac. Adding noodles doubles the servings available. 3) a friend recommended topping it with those "Potato Sticks" you buy in a bag/can. Why not potatoes? People order Chili Fries. That was different and edible. Follow that with a thick slab of Chocolate Cake and extra thick frosting. And a bowl of Raspberries. The time to feel tired, is after eating.

In the mid 60's here!

Dinner was panko fried chicken, garlic roasted potatoes ,green beans and a quinoa and kale salad.

Side story: was out for lunch at the Cheesecake Factory and had the kale salad. Found a copy cat recipe and made it tonight. It wasn't exact but was very good.

It was a wet dreary day so I made some of the wonderful shrimp chowder. It was incredibly yummy. One of our new favorites.

I used some leftover zombie meat from our Halloween party. (Pork Tenderloin) and made Grilled Cubano Sandwiches w/ sliced roast pork, swiss cheese, ham, pickles and brown mustard with a side dish of leftover couscous.

Lentil soup with sliced smoked sausage. Nice on a cool, rainy evening!

I was out for most of today and had lunch out so wasn't really wanting supper so I just had a mashed avocado with some brown rice crackers and a sliced up juicy pear Very declicious

Lots of yummy sounding meals, but Old Fixer, yum! DH & I had chili cheese dogs last night. Tonight, we went out to eat. We're both tired, tired, tired!

My Bernina sewing machine was on the fritz eating thread. :0( But the spare Brother worked like new! :0) I was indoors all day...sewing Sunbrella Roman shades..

I made meatball sandwiches on french bread buns!
Cookies & creme ice cream for dessert & Earl Grey tea for later....
