By the way, I forgot to mention that this tea set is usually Made in China and is made of porcelain. You may find this same design with various shapes of the cup, tray (dish) and teapot. However, the set you have is the most popular. Even if it doesn't worth ($$) very much, it's worth keeping it if you drink tea. It is considered as a traditional tea set and in some way, it is also a collectible set. In China, different type of tea is recommended to use with different type of teapotware. ie: Oolong tea is recommended to use with Yixing teapots, a purple clay found only in Yixing, China. Green tea is recommended to use with porcelain or ceramic teaware. Since it's porcelain, hand wash this set only. If you don't know much about porcelain, it is lighter than ceramic. It retains heat longer. It is strong but easily chip. Enjoy it!

If it were me, I'd get the dinner plate, the salad plate, and the pasta/soup bowl, not the cereal bowl. If you're using this for special occasions, that means mostly for dinners, not for breakfast, so it seems to me you'd get more use, and versatility, from the pasta/soup bowl than the soup/cereal bowl.

Something I laugh about, which was probably only funny the first time... Watching a baby nephew pick up his bowl and drink out of it. On the flat side. Everything poured out of the bowl corners on the sides of his little mouth. All down his sides, down the high chair and onto the floor. He cried because he didn't get any. Mine have a high-ish lip. I got them at Tuesday Morning a couple of years ago. I love the round bowls and plates beacuse they're bigger. The plates I seldom use, because I use the other set of Fitz & Floyd. I have huge serving pieces for the squares. One bunch could be chargers. I've served roasts on them. The others I are HUGE pasta or serving dishes. They're square, but they also have an inner square, where the depth of the piece is probaby 2" deep. They're cool, but I have no place to keep them. These came in a black, matte-like finish and I've found pieces for years since that were definately not of this Prasidio set, but were the exact same finish. I admit I keep picking things up, but nothing square. There were a few pieces in a taupe, called "mink" that I bought at that same time. That's what I really wanted, but at Tuesday Morning (all 7 of them in my area) you get what they have left. I've quit buying dishes, tho, unless I find some of my discontinued Fitz & Floyd. I've given away a couple of sets of things on Freecycle. I think it is OCD, because I live alone and don't entertain. Who needs cupboards and cupboards of dishes? Christine Formerly C F Muehling

Ooh I love that blog. I'm in love with these dishes from Macy's but they are a bit pricey considering I already have a full place setting in white and like katieob I just want something fun to serve the family on and look good in glass cabinets. I am interested to hear more about the ones from Target, were they glass like and not plastic? I don't have an Ikea near me but I need to look on their website.
