What's for dinner Saturday?

I know you're tired of my whining about not feeling good, but this cold has really knocked me for a loop. I could barely swallow the a.m. and it sure hurt. I spent almost all day yesterday and all day today in bed. Watched/listened to the FSU-UF game from bed and our 'Noles won!! Had a bowl of soup and now I'm ready to go back to bed.

I hope none of you catch cold--it's going around here. What are you having for dinner?

Patti, If you are not feeling good on Mon please go to a Dr. You might have strep throat. No one is tired of your whining, we all just want you to get better. I hate to say you did too much for Thanksgiving.

Dinner here was a ham steak & baked potato.

How can anyone stay well with this crazy weather we are having. This coming week it will be in the 60's when this past week it was in the 30's.

Sorry you are still fighting that old cold and sore throat Patti. Get more bed rest. Supper was not much for me, a couple sandwich spread sandwiches, a clementine and some water to drink.Rest well.

Holy smokes Raven!!! I get bronchitis EVERY time, I don't get just a cold. The coughing hurts like hell, and I get headaches from coughing, and my head feels like it's going to pop off. So I get to the doctor as soon as I can. You must be in total agony! I made the overnight breakfast casserole for myself. Hubby is not an egg-eater, but he thought it looked really good. He had some, and loved it. Egg isn't the main focus, the bread, sausage/ham is. He finished it off for dinner with some corn, and I had leftover ham, potatoes and corn.

Rhizo, hope you're finished in time for the movie. Those kabobs sure sound yummy! YogaLady, does that mean we won't see your sweet self for a few days? If so, have a wonderful time but if you'll have access I look forward to hearing about your trip--or you can tell us when you get home. Have a wonderful time. Clubm, everything sounds delish! We just love spinach, but have to watch how much, since Harry takes Coumiden. I see you've been at the Garden Web for a while. Do you post much? I sure hope you plan to in the future!! Well now, Shirley. That sounds like a plan. Wonder where Glenda will lead us tomorrow? I just love cyber-dreams :-) Pam, I sure hope your sister has good news from the biopsies. No dinner tonight. We went to a birthday brunch, ate too much, and have been dragging around all day. Neither one of us are used to eating heavily at 10:30 in the morning. Left there and went to Costco since we were close, Fred Meyer (there isn't one here locally) then home and had company for a while. Brunch was at a casino. The food is good, I had bacon and tomato omelet, more. And I did gamble a little before we left. I had almost lost my $20, won it back so played some more (slots) and that time I did lose it. DH lost his $5 on a penny machine and quit :) We're not gamblers, and I must say, its a lot more fun when I can break even or win a little. My SIL had begun with $200 and was up to almost $700 in winnings when we left, she has more disposable income than I feel I do.

..Asking me for a recipe isn't usually something I can help with. But I'll try! And I know that I said orzo but I MEANT coucous! But it sure would work with orzo. Fix 1 cup coucous and 1/2 cup red quinoi according to the directions on their labels. Be sure to rinse the quinoa first, and I prefer the red....it tastes nuttier to me. I cook both of them in chicken broth. This salad can be made just with quinoi, but I didn't want to scare my guests. :-) Veggies....to equal about two cups or more : chopped green onions, red bell pepper, english cuke, chick peas (rinsed and drained), halved cherry tomatoes. Use your favorite vinaigrette . I made a lemon dressing with quarter cup fresh lemon juice, quarter cup olive oil, two cloves minced garlic, chopped fresh oregano, sugar, S & P to taste, and a splash of balsamic or other vineger. I didn't use all of the dressing. Add it to the couscous and quinoi while still warm, cover, and chill. When ready to serve, stir and taste to add more dressing if necessary. I added a bit of lemon zest on top for serving and fresh mint from the garden .

Today is the Auburn/alabama game, so we are having nachos for dinner..Had spicy cabbage for lunch so I don't feel bad about having nachos for dinner..

Patti, Definitely see your doctor, my doctor wants to know the minute I think I have something even the sniffels. With a severely compromised immune system it is crucial to get it haulted and under control because if it gets a hold it can be very hard to stop it. You are seriously compromised right now.

Today was our Thanksgiving meal so tonight is leftovers. Yummy good stuff.
The smoked turkey from Holmes smokehouse in Texas was amazing, better than the ones I usually get from Eddy's smokehouse. I look forward to more.

Today was a gloriously sunny day and for some reason I was in the mood for cooking and baking.

I made my regular 2 loaves of bread and I had a bunch of ham stock from my boiled ham yesterday. So I made a big pot of cabbage soup and another pot of potato soup, using some ham stock. I also threw some ham pieces in the potato soup.

We had a well-done roast of beef with carrots around it. I boiled some Yukon Gold and a sweet potato. While the oven was on, I made some butter tart squares. Here are the fruits of my labour today!

We went to a matinee movie (Gravity in 3D) and I can't believe I ate the whole bucket.

Patti, I'm so sad to hear you are not only not feeling better, but WORSE! I'm with some of the others. Get thee to your dr. ASAP. Don't mess around. I too think you may have over done it. And, don't worry about whining...you most definitely deserve a whine or two.

going out to dinner with friends @ 7..still an hour away..
ate a mandarin a few minutes ago and a pretzel granola bar..might have to have some coffee..

Home from dinner..I had cod and sweet potato chips.
He had the Devastator and hand cut fries.
Devastator is a big beef patty, ham slice, fried pickles, fried egg and cheese and bacon.."veg" on the side.

Patti, hope you feel better soon. A sore throat is terrible. I'm with the others - you should go to your doctor.

Jasdip, your meal looks wonderful!

We went out last night. DH had a Cajun pasta with blackened chicken. I had blackened salmon with roasted red pepper cream sauce served over sautÃÂ©ed spinach. Both were very good!
