What's for dinner Saturday?

Darn, it's about the sixth day in a row without any sunshine. We Floridian's aren't used to this! I sure could use a sun fix!

We're having leftover tuna casserole with bread and butter. Peasant meal--that makes us happy.

What are you having for dinner tonight?

Baked fresh ham, green beans and some starch, yet to be determined.

I used to make a tuna loaf that everyone loved. I'd take leftovers for my lunch at school, and ate it cold.

Beautiful day here, upper 50's. Great football weather: Bama won 49-0

Mama Goldbergs for my usual: bologna on rye with lettuce tomatoes, mayo and mustard with sour cream and onion p chips. Delicious!

Tomorrow: Chef Glenda's back in the kitchen :o)

Don't you be coming down with a cold, or worse Patti! Nice and warm again today. It's probably the last before it turns cold again. (11C= 52F). Hung the laundry outside and hubby and I bought the curtain rod that I needed so we can hang some drapes. The apartment is outfitted with vertical blinds and I bought some burgundy panels that were on clearance, as I like the softness of curtains. We had to buy a 144" rod so we put that up today. Looks real nice and homey. I'll post a pic tomorrow or so. Made bran muffins today as well. Dinner was chicken parmigiana with spaghetti and a salad. The chicken breast was huge, and we pigged out. Man it was good.

Glenda, I've been in restaurants before when the tour bus pulls in. It's a madhouse trying to get everyone's order and food to them in a timely manner. I sure feel sorry for those waitresses/waiters, and hope the get nice tips. Shirley, I need to do that, too. I haven't found a new cleaning service yet, so I'm trying to do just the basics. Enough to keep the health dept. away :-) You had a great-sounding dinner, BTW! Sweet Betsy, do you put beans in your chili? I used to but one day I didn't have any and I never went back to adding them. Orchidllauraga, I just love Stouffer's lasagna. I bought one because I'd heard they were good and swore I'd never make my own again. The LSU/Bama game is probably the game of the year. Sorry, but don't count on LSU winning. Alabama is on like a 5 or 6 year roll! Seagrass, LOL! But that really is a hubby loving meal. I wouldn't mind it myself. Marilyn, beware! We built a huge garage/workshop/man cave when we lived in OT. It took Harry about one week to fill it up until there was no longer room for the car. He even built a loft to hold the spill over. All that stuff had been lurking in the attic. You're nice to fix him his favorites. That happens to be MY favorite, too :-) In fact, that's what I requested every year for my birthday meal (only we call them noodles). Sue, you sure can't beat the price of that meal. I'd sure love a piece of that pie! Kittiemom, I haven't made black bean soup over rice for many years. Don't know why other than the fact my recipe is loaded with bacon. But it's sooo good! Bet it was good! Geez, Mary. You cleaned your house AND made a yummy dinner! You surely will sleep well tonight. Pam, oh boo! I'm sorry your GS's team lost. Glad you weren't cold, though. Patti, that sounds delicious. I didn't get my share of cookout food this summer, darn it! Bengardening, what a fun evening. Hope the evening is a success for the firemen and hope you win some big bucks!! Raven, now you know how to enjoy watching a football game, girl! Those mushrooms sound awesome.

Mary, Mary, Mary. What are we going to do with you? Hope you don't have a setback. Remember, you sure don't want to have that surgery a third time! Angelaid, I sure envy you your vacation. Hope you have a wonderful time. Nosy question--if you're going to Hawaii, whose going to eat all that food? Rhizo, I sure do love shrimp and grits. I want to thank you for your concern regarding my liquid diet. Both Boost and the Special K protein shakes are loaded with vitamins and minerals. I drink on an average of three a day along with soup and G2-type drinks. The doctors aren't concerned--as long as I'm gaining a little weight. Sue, I know you'll have a great birthday dinner for Amber. I can't wait to hear what all you made. Have a great day!

Today was a gloriously sunny day and for some reason I was in the mood for cooking and baking. I made my regular 2 loaves of bread and I had a bunch of ham stock from my boiled ham yesterday. So I made a big pot of cabbage soup and another pot of potato soup, using some ham stock. I also threw some ham pieces in the potato soup. We had a well-done roast of beef with carrots around it. I boiled some Yukon Gold and a sweet potato. While the oven was on, I made some butter tart squares. Here are the fruits of my labour today!

I know what it's like to go days without sunshine... I live in Ohio. No fun. We got next to no sun in my area for 12 days after Sandy visited.

Meatloaf, baked potato (including the skins) and a small amount of Texas beans was it for me tonight.

Today I went to our local Little Theater with six lady friends to see The Odd Couple. They did a pretty good job. We stopped for an early dinner afterwards. It was a very enjoyable day. DH is having a meatloaf sandwich and butternut squash soup.

Chili and crackers. It was a beautiful day although a little chill at times.
We were forced to get out to the grocery store and pharmacy. It was very difficult I was so weak, but I made it and the fridge is stocked.
I bought a beautiful big bowl of fresh berries, black berries, blue berries and raspberry, I think it will help me feel better. Blue berries are good for the tummy.

We got a free turkey, so I guess I will be cooking Thanksgiving if I feel good.

We had meatloaf, sweet potatoes and green beans. I think there is leftover blueberry pie for dessert but I won't be having any.

Raven, you've been sick for a pretty long time now. Have you been to the doctor? I'm really concerned about you. Sure hope you're feeling better real soon.

Sunny and warm here today. High of 10C.
I made pasta puttanesca for dinner then we went to a neighbouring city to see the Santa Claus parade. They always have it on Sat. nite, and the floats are all lit.

We went to Lowe's where I bought a Samsung French door fridge on sale. Also got a new dishwasher. Got them both with the 4 year warranty for less than the fridge cost before the sale price. Merry Christmas to us. LOL Not having them delivered until after Thanksgiving.

Also went to the Commissary and ate dinner at a bbq place we hadn't been to before. It was really good and we will be going back. I had chopped brisket, Texas toast, coleslaw and potato salad.

Nita I really like my new Samsung French door refrigerator and I have not had it a week. Our supper tonight was just chili soup, he had crackers with his and apple pie, two pieces. I just had the chili soup and a tuna salad sandwich.

Thanks for the concern. Yes my doctor has given me meds. The problem is I take several very strong immune suppressing drugs which makes it much more difficult for me to try to get over an illness. The auto immune conditions I have put me in a risky situation.
This season has been dreadful. I just get over one and another hits.
I have to think it will be better soon.

I had a green salad made with arugala and home made pizza. I bought some super thin fire grilled crusts. It was quite good.
