It's chilly here currently in the 40s. I am trying another new recipe, called Not chicken pot pie in the slow cooker. You make biscuits to serve it over. I love chicken pot pie and think this sounded good and easy. I added a can of cream of mushroom soup and more veggies to mine, here's the link to the recipe in case anyone is interested.

I'm making beef/barley/mushroom soup. It's made with beef stock, onions, carrots, celery, cremini and shitaki mushrooms, pearled barley, and stew beef. I've just browned the beef and even that smells good.

It's 30 degrees here in Kentucky. I made some meatloaf to take to work this weekend, so just ate some of that.

40 degrees here in Colorado . I'm tying rings on a Roman shade to finish off my project.

I have a chile relleno casserole in the oven, made with sausage,onions & hamburger in the middle, topped with cheese.

Low 70's here. Salmon patties, some steamed vegetables. Probably some fruit.

It's been chilly here. Great soup weather. Yesterday I made 10 qts. Manhattan clam chowder. Today I'm making a big pot of pea soup. Don't know if that will be done in time for tonight's dinner so maybe we'll have the clam chowder. don't know yet. Love it when the freezer is full of soups. This weekend I'm making some white chili but since it's more like a soup consistency, I tell DH it's Mexican soup. He didn't like it when I told him it's white chili, loves it since I started calling it Mexican soup. Go figure.

Happy Hour, but why in this season? Any place where its a comfy 30C instead of F? Hot tasty Campbell's Tomato Soup, crackers and a ham sammich. Sweets later.
Not Chicken Pot Pie? Sounds like Chicken Ala King, served over noodles, toast or biscuits. Cooked in 15 minutes.

Pizza! Here in northern NY we had some on And off snowflakes. Temp will go down into the teens. Hubby is at hunting camp for the weekend. He laid a fire in the fireplace for me because tomorrow I plan to have my sister (and her dog) over for a stuffed roast chicken and a movie while we enjoy the fire. It is one of her favorite things.

We woke up to snow covered roads this morning and it caught many drivers off-guard. Many, many fender benders on the expressway and streets. Over 150 cars damaged. It always takes a while before people adjust to the weather conditions by slowing down and leaving space, and paying attention. I'm getting the snow tires on the car on Monday.

I finished off the rest of the pasta, and hubby had the rest of the French onion soup.

Today was another run around day with the girls again. We had coupons so for lunch we had breakfast at Bob Evan's. All so good. I am not even hungry this evening so my main meal for today was French toast, scrambled egg, bacon, and home fries plus iced tea to drink. It is a bit warmer right now, 31 out. Was nippy this morning though.

OF, I couldn't live without snow tires. 20 years I bought my first new car and, it came with Michelin all-season, and I promptly slid thru an intersection. I bought snows and have used snow tires every winter since. All-season is an oxy-moron

We had Cajun sausage, gnocci, turnip greens and pickled beets. Very tasty, but the sausage was a little too hot for my taste buds.

I cooked some lobster cakes as the main dish, with steamed asparagus, and "asian noodles" as side dishes and a delicious locally-made viognier white wine.

The "Asian Noodles" is a super simple recipe. It merely cooked ramen noodles made without the "flavoring packet" and then stir in peanut sauce (1 Tbsp), teriyaki sauce (1 tsp), and ginger/miso salad dressing (1 Tbsp)

Bob your Asian noodles sound good. I have some packets of Ramen noodles that I keep on hand for our Asian coleslaw. I don't use the salt packet either.

I've never eaten cooked ramen noodles so this would be a good chance!

Rhizo: Your soup sounds so very good. I had the last of my beef barley from the freezer for my lunch today.

Kathsgrdn: I'll have to add meatloaf to my foods for next week. One of my favorite foods.

Socks: I made some salmon patties today to put in my refrigerator today. I like your sides too.

Jasdip: I do NOT like snowy/icy/slippery roads at all. For a lot of the years I worked, I not only got snow tires, but had them studded. Leftovers are just great, aren't they?

Sue: I don't get to do it often but I really like to go to a restaurant that has a breakfast bar. Once in a while, I get to go to Shoney's. No wonder you weren't hungry later on.

Mamatoad: A little 'heat' goes a long way. I've never had turnips or the greens. Wish I knew someone who makes them so I could get a taste.

Bob: If I had the lobster cakes, that's all I'd need. I'd try the asian noodles just to see what they're like.

9 degrees here. I came home, turned on the heater, snuggled under the blanket and took a nap. Not sure what husband had for dinner. Should go down and rustle something up, I just don't feel like moving.

The recipe was a keeper! I made biscuits, split it open and put the pot pie goodness all over the top and sprinkled a little grated cheese on top. My husband loved it. It makes a lot, I did add a can of cream of mushroom soup and more veggies to mine and a little splash of wine. It would be a good filling to put in a pie crust and bake for a real pot pie.

With the "Asian Noodles" recipe, I will often add finely chopped green onions and a few times I've used toasted sesame seeds.

The only hard part of the recipe is finding a good ginger miso salad dressing. A friend who stayed with us a few years ago, left her bottle of ginger miso salad dressing, which I used until it was gone, but then couldn't find that brand anywhere. I tried a different brand, chosen more or less at random, and it was dreadful, mostly HF corn syrup with artificial ginger and miso flavorings. The current brand I use is Appalachian Naturals Ginger Miso Salad Dressing which I've only found at Whole Foods.
