Tallulah

I just got back from the vet with my sister, Cindy. Her cat, Tallulah, has been ill, and getting worse. For the past few days, she's just been sitting, staring off into space, or hiding herself in a cat carrier in the hallway. It was time for Cindy to let her go, and this afternoon, she did.

We don't know where Tallulah started out, but she came to Cindy's old vet with a broken jaw. Someone had kicked her right in the face and then left her, injured. The vet treated her and asked Cindy to take her. He knew that Cindy often rescued cats.

I always said that Tallulah went from a bad place to kitty paradise. She was inseparable from Cindy, always on her lap - or sometimes on the heating pad that Cindy would set next to her, because Tallulah was so small and easily chilled.

I know it was awful for Cindy to let her go, but it was the right thing to do. Tallulah died easily, in Cindy's arms.

I know there are lots of animal lovers here, and if you'd like to post something for Cindy, I think she'd appreciate it.

RE: Tallulah

My heart goes out to you Cindy. I have always had a cat or two and it is so hard to let them go. I am sure Tallulah was thankful for the time she spent with you in a safe, loving home.

RE: Tallulah

Cindy, I'm sorry about the loss of your sweet cat. Thank you for having a kind, loving heart and giving her a good home. I once nursed one of my cats back to health after suffering a broken jaw and a broken upper palate. I ran chicken livers and warm water through a blender and feed her with a syringe for a long, long time.

Ya Ya (who has sat in the bathroom with the door closed, eating a bowl of cereal so my cat wouldn't see me eating!)

RIP Tallulah

Cindy, I am very sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is. But always remember, because of you, Tallulah was loved and well taken care of. You made a huge difference in her life. I hope some day soon you'll be able to remember her with a smile on your face.

RE: Tallulah

Cindy, you created such a comforting place for Tallulah's little earthly body, and you did the hardest thing an animal lover can do--set her free from that body to spare her from pain. Her spirit lives, and will rejoin yours someday. I'm sure of it.

Cindy, know that you gave Tallulah the love and care she might not have received without you. It is hard to let them go, but the bravest thing to do.

RE: Tallulah

Cindy, I know your heart hurts right now because your baby has gone on to the Rainbow Bridge. But she trusted you until the very end, to do what was right for HER ... and you did.

Rescues are so very special, they love even more than other pets, I think, because they KNOW how bad it can be and they APPRECIATE what they have.

RE: Tallulah

Cindy I know you did the right thing with your beloved Tallula. You cared for her, you loved her and then you let her go. Here's a hug for you.

RE: Tallulah

Most of us here on KT surely do understand the heartbreak of losing a dearly beloved pet. Knowing that pets' lifespans are shorter than ours doesn't really help much. You'll miss her so much, but you loved her enough to stop her suffering. I hope you can do something meaningful in her memory like plant something or make a little photo album of her life. So, so sorry, Cindy.

PS How sweet of your sister to post here for you.

I know how hard it is to say goodbye but I'm glad to hear that your sister Cindy gave Tallulah a love-filled life.

(((((Tallulah and Cindy)))))

It's so hard for me to read the "pets passing" posts. It makes me cry for all the people left behind.

RE: Tallulah

So sorry Cindy. You did what you had to do. She had no quality of life left. How lucky she was to have you rescue her.

RE: Tallulah
