Comparision pictures of babies Sophie and Miriam

This afternoon I tried to recreate with Miriam a picture I took almost 10 years ago of Sophie at the same age that Miriam is now. She's wearing the strawberry outfit and surrounded by the animals that her aunt made for Sophie when she was a baby.

Some people say they look alike. I don't see it. Neat to see the comparison, just the same...

As one who has a "lovely" name [now more common, but then unusual], I can tell you that long before I was school age, I detested it. Weekly, my parents went to DC's huge Farmer's Market where they sold vegs & flowers from their garden, so that literally dozens of times every week, adults would tell me, "Oh, what a lovely name! Don't you just love that name!" Being a properly raised young'un, I'd always say yes and thank you, but my mental comment would be similar to a cat spitting hairballs. I've since discovered that an apparent side-benefit of maturing to grey hair is that upon being introduced to someone, I rarely hear "Oh, what a lovely name!" T.G.

I've become much more disenchanted with selecting rose varieties than ever before - I'm not sure why, maybe because I'm still limited to my own window ledge and haven't been home to my old garden in a few years, but I don't think I'll be ordering much this season. I'm dismayed at the closing of Sequoia and may try to get a few rare things from them before the end. It always seems that the most promising varieties are quite out of reach, so for now, I think I'll concentrate my efforts on breeding more than acquiring and see if I can't make the rose I'm craving but simply cannot buy. At work, I'll continue adding to the collection of wonderful Chinese rose species and cultivars; this is one of my little pet projects to increase public (and institutional) awareness of these amazing and largely well-adapted plants. Marianne (if you read this), do you really feel that both helenae cultivars are equal in hardiness, and that your zones 4-5 are warmer than ours? From reading which roses do well where in Scandinavia, I was under the impression that a zone 4-5 hardy rose where you live is roughly equivalent to one at my home in Minnesota, also zone 4-5. I was also fairly sure I understood that 'Lykkefund' is less hardy than 'Hybrida', which hopefully is soon on its way to Ashdown from Europe courtesy of a certain GW member! Stefan

Katlan, Fireman's wife left after some people here basically called her a liar. Some believed her story some didn't and were very rude to her about it. I don't know if the story was true or not but she had been here awhile before all that happened so I don't see any reason why she would have made it up. If I had been treated that way I would have left too. As a matter of fact I don't post here much or even read here like I used to because of some of the mean people who surfaced around that time. Fine if you don't believe what someone posts here but there is no need to be vicious about it. Just Scroll on by.

Happy belated birthday greetings Nicole. OMG Sophie is all grown up. I remember when you first announced you were having her. I had no idea you were expecting a fourth or I had forgotten. My new (and first) grand daughter is about the same age. She will be 4 months on the 29th. I always loved seeing and hearing about your family. Hope you keep in touch with us here at the KT.

Nicole, you have the prettiest babies! I mainly remember Benjamin and Oliver--Sophie a little. Your new addition must be a lot of fun for all of you. Love those little baby fingers.

I don't think they look so very much alike. Miriam seems more petite. They do look like sisters, though. They are both too cute for words! I like your children's names.

I agree with dedtired. I see similar noses and eyebrows, but the mouths and eyes are different.

Sophie seems more 'robust', speaking of which, is Oliver still your 'giant boy'? (We have a 'giant girl', our DGD Evie, who looks about 2 1/2 but is only 18 mos.)
