from this morning! The weather was a lot nicer when you

were there! We are having tons of rain and heavy winds.

The winds and rain got to this truck.

Hi Kat! I'm obviously not Moni, but I'm going to assume that's the Astoria, OR bridge...located in our (hopefully) future home of Oregon. We drove over it a few years ago and I remember thinking that there is something almost magical about the Oregon / Washington coastline. Much more beautiful than over here in CA (IMO), although we do have some stunning coastlines, too. Lucky you to be able to see that everyday! Well... Maybe not the truck tipping over, just the beauty and ruggedness of the area. :)

Hi Kat

All I can say, nothing bothered me, while I was riding across. I was so sick... and needed to be in a bed. It is a very long bridge, with a nasty uphill just before you get to Astoria.

Again, I truly apologize for the size of my pics. I'll be posting some more soon and will make the adjustment. Sherry,our pond is 20 x 17 and is 4 ft. deep at the deepest part under the waterfall and goes up to 1 foot in the shallow end. Funny, but my koi love to stay in the shallows....more plants down there I guess. I'm mad at my fish....over the weekend they ate all 3 containers I put in of ribbon grass @ $10 ea........if I could spank them I would! I even had large rocks over the pots and they still got to the roots and destroyed every single one of them. I'm keeping my fingers crossed though....my new waterlillies are still intact and I have threatened them with bodily harm if they mess with them.....yeah right....I love my babies and they can eat whatever they want.

Sorry Folks: I wish I can say that I have designed a new revolutionary form of dry creek bed, but unfortunately, this one is in the "work in process" stage. There will be a mix of gravel and rocks eventually with a transition, left to right, of tropical to desert plants. The dry stream is the low point of slopes to either side, so as the microsprayers water the plants above, the runoff will take care of the plants I plan to put at creekside. The plants I'm envisioning are riparian in their native habitat, so they can handle a drenching and go weeks with out water. These include things like papyrus, palm grass, heliconias in the rain forest, and more water tolerant succulents on the desert side. The two sides will be on two valves so one side will go a minimum of a month between waterings, while the rainforest will get sprayed a little over once a week. The area where the bridge is goes through a transition zone where I've planted things that are happy either way, like Dypsis decaryi Triangle Palm, bird of paradise Strelitzia reginae and sun loving bromeliads, like Aechmea sp. dgmarie, that slipperybrick site was great! Very creative. Loved this bit from the description of the Enterprise theatre; "Even a red alert button that starts red flashing lights and tense music." That's what I need in real life; a red alert button and background music. Here's a picture of my home theatre, or rather, what I hope it will look like when it's done. I'm working on a cabinet for television and vcr/dvd player to look like the Hornbeck Theatre in Shawnee, Oklahoma. My Dad worked there as a teenager over 60 years ago, back when the ushers carried flashlights and escorted you to your seat. These days, it plays the dollar movie; the ones that everyone else has already seen, their last showing on a big screen before you can find it at the rental store. Our family has many happy memories of "going to the show" tied up with that building. Here is a link that might be useful:

When I saw the title I was thinking Astoria, Queens, near where I grew up. Then I remembered Astoria doesn't have its own bridge. LOL

That certainly looks nasty, though!

Yes, Shed, it is the Holiday Inn Express & that was our view with the Astoria River Walk right outside the window. We were on our Lewis & Clark journey & Astoria is the area where L&C spent the winter of 1805 before making their return to St Louis, MO. It's a beautiful area.

We were there this Summer, beautiful area. We loved the coast with all its beauty. We went over that bridge in our motor home.

That Oregon / Washington coastline is sooo beautiful. I fell in love with Astoria. But we retired to central FL because of the grandbabies. And it is beautiful here -- just not as breathtaking.

This is going to sound silly, but I remember watching "The Goonies" as a kid and thinking how cool it would be to live where it was filmed. Years later I saw parts of "Kindergarten Cop", even though I'm no fan of Schwarzenegger, and fell in love with the area. Imagine my surprise when I found a website listing both having been filmed in Astoria! That's when I fell in love with the area and after a few road trips, we have decided that when it's time for us to retire, that's where we'd like to move.

We'll definitely have to stay at that Holiday Inn, Bee. Thanks for the tip!!

I loved the WHOLE coastline... as far as we rode along it. It was one of my best cycling tours so far.
