"Normal" Attention Span for Age Three?

Last Monday I babysat our DGD, age 3.5 for six hours, at her house.

I know I am *old*, and I don't know any other children that age. I do know that this one seems 'distracted'. She is quite different from her brother at the same age. They were both early talkers. (I should say 'conversationalists', with big vocabularies.) He would 'read along' through a simple short story, do a wooden puzzle, spend long minutes on an activity.

DGD picks up something, gives it a moment's attention, drops it on the floor and is off to another toy. In the middle of 'baking a cake' in her toy kitchen she will start to sing along with some counting game that's playing on the TV. Then she's forgotten her 'cake' and is off to pick up a doll, color for an instant, go back to the 'kitchen', whirl, jump up and down, etc. -- for HOURS, nonstop.

ADDH or normal kid? Could it be the TV -- all children's programming, but on and on, in a loop? That wasn't part of DGS's early years.

DGD attends pre-K two days a week. DGS went five days at this age.
