WOW : IF you all think I'm sweet its only because of this sweet box I recieved today :))) jeanette you just put 5 lbs of smiles on my waistline If I could even find a waitline :)) these chocolates are so good :)) but best of all was the rest of the box where I found . scilla camp Hyacinth bulbs , scilla siberica bulbs ,witch I will do a search on so I can find the best place to plant them . then there was narcissus trumpet "KING ALFRED" He sure looks like a king also :)) an Iris to add to my collection "LOW HO SILVER" I Hope you saved a few for yourself :))) very very nice fall gifts that are all so very usefull I love them . kitchen set of Towels/pot holder/ oven mitt photo calendar for 2007 Body Botanical bath fizz a pumpkin with 2 pine scented candles a scented sink strainer I never heard or seen these before sure going to use this one :)) package of 10 note cards I Like these & feel you can never have to many with all that I use . the paper lanter be use as my night light I just got a few of them from a close out summer sale & I like them in the bird room :)) & then its the pumpkin tin filled with the candy kisses & all the white & dark hershey chocolates all through the box . what a very lovely box :) its a rainy day today so the picture is a little dark but you can see the spider that was in my box :)) love him & glad it was no bubba :)) Shirley again very nice fall swap & job well done we can now close this one and start our next swap . thank you jeanette susie

Johnliu, I don't know enough medicine to know when it would be appropriate to glue a cut. The dentist felt confident using it in a clean hand wound that occurred in a clean environment (sink full of hot soapy water :)) and it did work but after using pressure for a significant amount of time to stop bleeding. After the bleeding had stopped, the wound edges would not stay together, fleshy cut was too deep for that - that's the signal usually that stitches or something comparable is needed to close the cut. I could imagine circumstances where the glue could seal bacteria inside and that wouldn't be good. Interestingly, another family member had a grandson fall on a decorative sailboat while visiting them just recently, suffered a freely bleeding cut just above the outer corner of his eye. The emergency room physician said "two pokes for anesthetic, 2 pokes X three for stitches, a 2 yr old who is already overtired and distressed, this won't be good. We're going to glue it ". The glue used looked like superglue and worked beautifully, and there was the added benefit of almost nothing in the way of a scar. The boys mother is a veterinarian (so with more medical background than most of us), she was thrilled with the considerate treatment and the outcome.

If your eye is still extremely painful, go back to the clinic and have them run a cotton swab under the eyelid, if it is there, it will catch on the cotton. That same thing happened to me back when I was young and they couldn't find the shard because it was clear glass and embedded under the eyelid. They died my eye green and did the swab thing after turning the lid inside out to finally find it. Don't let it keep scratching your eye when you blink. Hope it's out now and you are ok. I can't think of anything more painful. Jynja

My experience is that in most states you have to be seizure free for a certain amount of time before you can drive, but that is usually with epilepsy...I'm not sure if the same rule applies if the seizure has other causes (like a TBI). People who have seizures due to TBI, like those who have epilepsy, cannot drive until they are seizure free for a certain period of time. Cardamom, I wouldn't worry about that right now if I were you. Many, many people are able to take seizure medication and drive. Right now you don't know if he will continue to have seizures or not. And if he does have seizures, you don't know if they can be effectively prevented by medication. Try not to worry about that part of it right now. I know very well how frightened you must be. Take care of yourself as best you can. Remember that you will have a lot to do as he recovers, so take care of yourself while he's in the hospital. And remember that whatever happens, you will be fine and you will be able to do what you need to do. You will get a lot of advice from different people, and you will have to sift through it and find what works for you and your family. My advice would be different from marie-ndcal's. I did ask a lot of questions about things pertaining to rehab, etc. But I didn't ask a lot of questions from everyone I dealt with. For me, I found it was best to narrow my information pipeline. I got so much conflicting information from people, including health care professionals, that after awhile it was more practical to streamline the information flow. And also (and this is different for each individual), there were certain details about his injuries that I just couldn't handle. I could only cope with so much at a time. I never asked about his Glasgow Scale score at all, and I thank God I didn't know or find out until way later down the road. I would have crumpled to the floor like a little baby. Fortunately, my husband's parents are very intelligent and capable health care professionals and looked over his meds, statistics, etc. I noticed that they didn't ask a lot of questions, either, about his medications, etc. That's probably because they knew what should be done and knew he was getting the right care for the situation. If, like marie-ndcal's daughter, you want to or need to ask a lot of questions, don't hesitate to do it. I will say that from the time my husband entered neuro intensive care onward, the doctors, nurses, therapists and social workers were very good about keeping me informed about everything I needed to know. If you feel that you aren't being given enough information, don't hesitate to ask. You will need to be your husband's best advocate, so be as informed as you need to be. Although I didn't ask a lot of questions about my husband's meds, etc., I was very proactive with anything to do with rehab, including making sure he got all of his testing lined up as quick as was reasonable, so that he could be transferred to a rehab hospital as soon as possible. I tried to observe as much as I could there and ask a lot of questions. We were able to support him and help him much better once he came home because of that. Ravencajun is right, every brain case is different. The doctors and nurses will tell you that. You will find what works best for your husband's situation. Take care of yourself and make sure you eat something every day. Whatever you do, remember that you will be fine, and that you will be able to do everything you need to do. My thoughts and prayers will be with you.
