We love deviled eggs and would appreciate them at any time. My opinion is that is fine.

We usually just do them for Easter, but i certainly would eat them anytime.
Another easy idea that I love is asparagus wrapped in prosciutto.

I see them at all seasons of parties. Not necessary my favorite but DH loves them always.

You can dress them up a little with a pinch of different toppings....chives, parsley, cilantro, chopped olive, miniscule strips sun dried tomato, something contrasting, just use your imagination.

My SIL responded to an offer of 'what can I bring' with a deviled egg request one time. I don't make deviled eggs but did then and came up with an assortment that were really kind of pretty ;) And were eaten.

Not my favorite either, morz, but I noticed at summer parties when someone brings them, they just disappear. I think they are mostly fool-proof, so that works for me!

The Mimi's restaurant by us has deviled eggs as a new menu item in the appetizer section of their menu. Guess that makes it official; they can definitely be served as an appetizer. And left over ones (if that should happen) make a great breakfast.

I've done the regular deviled eggs, avocado with turkey bacon deviled eggs, and the shrimp deviled eggs. My favorite is the avocado just because their pretty and different. Usually, deviled eggs are the first thing to go. Most recipes are for 1/2 dozen eggsâ¦.I would double that but that's just me.

When I make them for a winter party I put chopped smoked oysters in the filling. It's an English New Year's tradition, I'm told.

Either way, deviled eggs are always a big hit with many.

I echo the deviled egg recommendations. Hubby despises hot eggs, he can't eat fried, scrambled, poached etc, but always loved Mom's deviled eggs. He also makes egg salad, so they're a hit with most anyone.

Deviled eggs are always a big hit! I made some recently and decided to garnish with pickled jalapeno slices -- loved it! For a party I like to lay them on a paper doily in a shallow bowl or quiche dish. It looks better and keeps them from sliding around. :)

Now you'll probably run out and buy the gadget to transport 24 pieces of egg.

I like them if they're not too mayonnaise-y. So many times at the grocery deli I pass up potato salad because it's swimming in mayonnaise. I'd like light mayonnaise, S&P, teeny snips of green onion and bacon bits, please !

Got a wonderful melamine one several years ago at T.J. Maxx. It holds 24. I love it! You could probably use egg cartons for transport and then transfer using two forks or spoons to serving plate. The paper doily is a good idea.

I LOVE deviled eggs, and often eat them as a meal for lunch. I'll make two the night before and mix the yolks with a little mayo and mustard, finely diced onion and seasoning. Yum!

Better Homes and Gardens mag had a feature for a while- 10 ways (to do something). One of them was 10 ways to make deviled eggs and some of them were really unique. I need to dig that recipe out, I know I kept it.

I think a deviled egg "bar" would be different.. You could make the basic mixture- yolk and mayo- and fill the cavity, then people could top them as they chose- little bowls of bacon bits, avocado, chopped olive, pickles, onions, chili peppers, capers, feta cheese, etc. And maybe some tiny bowls and spoons with sauces. :) Sounds like a lot of trouble, but it could be fun.

I like to make deviled eggs and have them on hand, they are fast and easy snacks or meals if you're in a rush. 2 of those and a strip of bacon warmed up, yum!

We've always had deviled eggs at Thanksgiving and Christmas. They're a "requirement" in our family!

I make deviled eggs frequently....just for us. We really like teensy sprigs of fresh dill and smoked salmon. Crunchy bacon crumbles are great, too. I'm definitely going to try the jalapeno slices.

In all this talk about deviled eggs. nobody mentioned when you are cooking rice in your rice cooker place eggs in the steamer basket, they are simply too easy then to peel. I plunge them in cold water, crack them and peel. They peel very nicely.

I don't do rice but often have trouble peeling eggs. What's the secret? I always plunge them into cold water when they are done.

It must be the steaming that does it, they are not in water at all while being cooked.

Cooking hard-boiled eggs. First, it's better not to use fresh eggs. Second, put them in a pot of cold water in a single layer, bring to boil, cover and remove from heat. Let sit 16 minutes, drain water, cover with cold water, drain, put lid back on pot and shake pot vigorously,cracking the shells. Peels should come off easily. If you find the vacuum spot on the egg, often you can get under that membrane and the shell will come off in one piece.

How long to leave them in the cold water, georgysmom? I always leave them in a long time.

I have always had rage issues trying to peel boiled eggs until I read about steaming them here. I've been steaming them in my rice cooker for years now. They just slide out of their shells. 20 minutes, rinse in cool water, peel immediately.

Steaming is the easiest way to get fresh or older eggs to peel. Steam for 20 minutes, with the lid on, not touching the water. Plunge in cold tap water, and soon crack the shell and they practically peel themselves. Sue who has an over abundance of eggs. I gathered 24 more today. I shall start my own noodle factory soon.

I always hard boil my old eggs and then buy new ones, and if I plan ahead well, I will buy extra for the next batch of hard boiled eggs.

I empty out the hot water, cover the eggs with cold water (the cold warms up pretty fast from the heat of the eggs,) so I pour it off and cover the eggs a second time. That cools the eggs very fast. I would say 30 seconds to a minute is fine. You don't want them to be completely cold. I'm not sure the second cold bath is necessary, It's just what I do to cool them quickly so I can peel them immediately.

I always have deviled eggs for family meals. My DS absolutely loves them!...but his wife thinks boiled eggs stink and will not fix them.

OK, I steamed the eggs 22 minutes. Had doubts they would be cooked through, but they were. Then ran cold water over them in steamer basket, in the sink. I only messed up peeling one egg getting the shells off. They look nice. I put bacon on top, paprika too.

Got this neat little container from Amazon. Two levels of eggs, easy to carry, and you can lift out the trays to serve them that way.

Very cute deviled egg container and carrier. I just have several Tupperware ones that I have collected over the years and somewhere have the Rubbermaid ones. Of course for here I do have deviled egg plates. After being married for 61 years a person does collect a number of things :) I am glad you liked the steaming for the eggs, works for me!
