You can put something like check my other auctions (or if you have an ebay store, check my ebay store) for more designs. Just make sure to have at least 2 auctions or store items running when you say that or ebay will nail you. If folks like what you sell they can contact you via ebay mail to ask what you have. just make sure you reply directly to them NOT thur the clickable link in the email (respond) as replying thru the link allows ebay access to your answer. Ebay stores are a good way to get things out there fairly cheaply. Basic store is 9.95/month, each listing in the store is .02 and a gallery picture is .01, for a grand total of .03 for each listing--and the item can be listed for 30 days & it will automatically roll over at the end of the 30 days, for another .03 charge. final value fees are the same as for auctions, but the listing is cheap. Stores are submitted to search engines like google etc, and there is a seperate search on ebay for stores. You can easily switch a store item to an auction item (at auction listing prices)and back to a store item, so stores are a good place to "park" things cheaply, but still be viewable to potential customers. If you have stuff that typically sells better at certian times of the year, you can park them in the store all year long, for those folks who may be looking for that item at odd times, then bring it out as an auction during it's busy season. You can also list in auction s & the store if you have multiple items. I started making jewelry recently, and bought extra beads to meet wholesale minimums, just to sell on ebay. I list one set of beads for auction with a starting price, and a buy it now (BIN) price. I list the rest of them in my store at the BIN price, since beaders typically will buy in multiples. If you are going to open a store use lots of "searchable" words in your store description (check mine out), not necessarily "brand" names, but things folks search for likr gift, handmade, etc It takes a bit for the search engines to crawl your store description, but if you opened a store now it would be in alot of search engines by thanksgiving. For store catagories make your 1st 5 your major ones as they are also what helps the search engines find you. Don't waste them with things like MISC. Sorry about the store rant...but stores CAN be a very valuable asset when selling on ebay. just make sure you keep 1 or 2 auctions running as it does help get your store seen.(Ebay also has a board just for stores where you can get lots of help, tips & info). Blushing? You're blushing? Because you got a little impatient? I'll tell you blushing....... Blushing is when you are selling two different sets of drapes on ebay just a week apart, and you get so many emails from one of the buyers that you just can't see straight. So, this buyer Gushes when she gets my homemade drapes. She carries on about how beautiful they are and how she can't wait to hang them. I read and delete the email. Three days or so later, I get another email from this person saying she doesn't know what happened to me but could I please send her a tracking number for her shipment. She apologizes for being impatient but really is excited about my drapes. I am at first confused and then, I get it. She's trying to scam me into reimbursing her for drapes she already received. She's going to pretend they're lost. So I mutter some mean things at my computer, fire off a snarkey little response telling her she got her drapes days ago and whatever does she mean? (Thank Heavens I never actually put anything MEAN in writing!!) She sends back a sweetly worded email telling me that she is sorry if something happened to them, but she really wants that tracking number so she can check with UPS. So, I fly off the handle completely (to my DH and DD) and check on the tracking. UPS shows package delivered 3 days before. But then, I notice the note. "Package left on bench by side door" I wonder..........and I send her an email telling her this. She emails back one hour later all contrite and apologetic for bothering me. Turns out they never use that side entrance and her package had been there all the time. And the finishing touch to my story? I then check my feedback and find an almost word-for-word comment about the 'gorgeous drapes' or whatever........from the OTHER EBAYER who got drapes from me earlier. Their email addresses were slightly similar and the second ebayer (whose package was lost at her side door) was NOT trying to scam me as I had thought. That, my fine feathered friend, is Blushing. And the best part, is.........neither of them ever knew. Red

it's a dying business model Understatement of the year! I joined eBay in 1998, as a buyer. Then I started selling collectibles in 2000, and it was great. Easy to list items, reasonable fees, and the vast majority of buyers and sellers were good honest folks. As time has gone by, eBay, (also known as FeeBay and GreedBay among other names..), has instituted so many awful changes and probable illegal practices that it is indeed in its death throes as an Online Auction Site. It is very close to becoming the Walmart of the Internet. Actually I apologize to Walmart, that comparison is an insult to them. Picture a fabulous flea market, with all kinds of items and happy buyers and sellers. As time goes on, some bad buyers and sellers show up, but the community of good buyers and sellers are able to help each other avoid the bad apples. Then the owner of the real estate where this flea market takes place decides he wants a bigger cut, and raises the rent he charges the sellers. Numerous times. To keep the customers coming in, he squelches every opportunity for the good buyers and sellers to keep the flea market pleasant and honest. He institutes a blanket "The Customer is Always Right" policy, which opens the sellers to outright fraud by bad buyers. Sellers are forced to ship items *before receiving payment*, and they just have to hope that the buyer doesn't falsely claim the item was broken or never received. Then, when it is obvious that the sale went well, and the buyer is happy, the seller has to wait until The Boss decides to give them their money. When a seller is defrauded, they are not allowed to warn the rest of the community. The system that used to make this work has been changed, so the sellers are not allowed to talk about bad buyers. Ever greedy, The Boss forces the sellers to funnel any money they get from buyers through his bank, so he can take another cut. If they don't comply, he offs them. (yes, soon sellers will get kicked off of eBay for not using their money launderer. Gee, it's beginning to sound like MafiaBay.) In the end, which is very soon, the wonderful flea market will become a dumping ground for wholesalers, liquidators, and thugs. And the top brass at eBay are the biggest thugs of all. If you think I'm just being a cynic, log onto eBay and read the Community Forums, specifically the Auction Listings and Paypal forums. It's very sad. Many sellers have left, more than I've ever seen. I regularly shop for a specific type of item, and in the past 6 months, the listings have gone from an average of 1500 to an average of 300. New auction sites are gaining steam. I'm wanting to sell again, but waiting until a new site or two starts taking off.

Susan, glad I could be of help. In the description of the classes I teach, I make mention of the material I cover and the things I don't....taking digital photos being one of those things. If they don't have a digital camera I suggest they take regular pictures and have them developed on a CD. I also suggest you have a list of computer skills a student must have before enrolling for your class. It has made my life a lot easier by screening the students beforehand. I do tell my students to use the software that comes with the camera to download the photos and I ask them to create a MY EBAY PHOTOS folder in MY PICTURES and save all of their pics in that folder, being sure to give them descriptive names rather than the generic #'s. I simply insert my photos by Browsing to the folder they're saved in and inserting from there. I can do several at a time quite easily this way. I don't use the Self Hosting option.
