Wanting Crochet Pattern for "Flat Front Poncho

I saw this poncho at a craft sale but they wanted $85.00 for it. It was a poncho with the V at the back but the front was flat. The lady said she used a 12mm crochet hook.

I have searched the internet for somthing similar but have not come up with anything.

If anyone has a pattern like this I would appreciate it you sharing.

I have not posted on the knitting and Crochet forum because no one ever replies over there.

I just finished a knit poncho without using a pattern. I used worsted yarn and circular needles to knit a simple tube any length and width. Then I cast off and turned one edge under about an inch and slip stitched that down. Using a Clover Wonder Knitter, I made a long drawstring, wove the ends into itself, attached a large safey pin and threaded it thru the casing by slipping it between any 2 stitches big enough to allow it thru. Done - and very sweet! My first knit project a complete success.

Quirkpod, I am not very good at modifying patterns, but from the little bit I read of the pattern on the lion brand web site, I think that you could make it a shawl just by not joining at the neck edge and turning at each round as if it was flat work, not done in the round. I don't know how new you are to crochet, but if you have done more than just one or two projects, I think you would be alright. You might want to do a little bit of an edging on the center front, at least I think that's where you would be making the split! Perhaps Sheilajoyce or someone with more experience than I have will be able to help. Tami

This pattern was very successful for using up small balls of various colors to make a striped dog coat. This one fits a Boston Terrier with a 15 inch neck and 22 inch chest. Make 16 inch chain. St st in 1st ch to form ring. Sc around 4 times. No need to join at ends of rounds. At row 5, (sc in sc, 2 sc in nx sc) around for one row of increases. Change colors at any time. SC arnd until 4 inches long. Lay work flat. Mark both outer corners. Sc acr, turn at mark, ch1, sc. Rep until 16" long or as long as you need it to cover the dog's back. Add a row of contrast trim if you want to, by making 2 sc in rear corner, sc arnd edges of coat, 2 sc in 2nd rearcorner. Also neck can be edged in contrast yarn. Make a seperate belly band 3" x 7". Attach 2" from neck using sewing thread and needle. Any q's, I'd be happy to hear from you. Email me to see photo.

I'm a little confused. When you say "flat front" does that mean that the hemline is straight across in the front, parallel to the floor, but has the typical poncho point on the bottom in the back? Or does it mean flat as in fitted with no excess material/draping going on? Or are you talking about the neckline?

I'm a visual person, I need a sketch or a photo! Did you ask them if they would sell you a pattern?

Yes Flamingo, point is at the back only and flat across at the front.

my aunt used to make two rectangles then created a v by joining one short side to the long...what if you joined the two long sides together in the front?
