Tide Better Together Sweepstakes
Comments (0)If anyone is interested, Tide is running a contest for a free laundry makeover or a Whirlpool washer and dryer. I have no affiliation with Tide or Whirlpool, I'm only providing the link as a courtesy to our forum members. Good luck. Here is a link that might be useful: Tide Better Together Sweepstakes...See MoreAre Custom Cabinets really that much better than Lowe’s?
Comments (15)If you can get the cabinet configuration you want with stock cabinets rather than using custom, then you only need to determine whether the inherent differences between the two lines matter to you. Typically more expensive lines have better, more durable finishes which is particularly important for slab painted doors. Also look at the construction details. Do the less expensive cabinets have full extension quality drawer glides, soft close drawers and doors, thick shelves, strongly constructed drawer boxes etc? Are these things worth paying double, for you? How long do you hope to live in your house with your new kitchen? (ie. will you be moving before the less expensive line begins to show signs of wear?). It might help if you can take home sample doors and compare them. Also, cheap plywood is not as good as quality MDF so don't be lured by the promise of "all wood". One last thing, If you're doing slab doors with full overlay, consider looking at frameless construction. You'll get lots more space in drawers and roll out trays with frameless....See MoreAre the newer rose really better than the slightly older ones?
Comments (6)Hi Ann, It is a matter of opinion, but I think that older roses (including many really historical ones) can actually be better than new ones. Why? Because people only keep growing the ones that have some excellent qualities, and the ones that are poor performers fall out of commerce. Now when we are talking about roses from 1990 -- there were surely some great roses bred around then, but some were not great. This will be the case even now, with new roses. Some will end up being great roses and others... not so much. One development in recent roses is that many consumers are sick of spraying chemicals on their plants, so there is a trend to breed healthier plants. In that sense, there are some roses from 2021 that will outperform most of the roses of the 90s. But there have always been some roses that are healthier than others! Of course some of the folks who market roses want us to think that the newest roses are better than the older ones -- that way they can convince people to rip out their old plants in favor of the new ones they want to sell. My suggestion would be to look at specific varieties -- you can search for them here on this forum -- and see what sort of reputation they have. Some roses will have a great reputation and will do beautifully in your area regardless of the date they were bred. For example, here in Seattle Julia Child (2004), Lady Hillingdon (1910), and Paul Ricault (1845) all do really well....See MoreTide Free/Clear Powder vs Tide With Bleach Powder
Comments (12)FWIW, my boxes of All F/C powder w/stainlifters and Tide F/C powder both have enzymes listed in the ingredients . That same Tide F/C powder also has "Color safe bleach - sodium carbonate peroxide" listed on the side, so I avoid that one for dark colors. There might not be enough to make a difference, since it is not described as a "w/bleach" formula, but why test the fates? LOL I can't tell much difference between the two, but our clothing doesn't get very dirty, either. Hubby's sweaty golf clothing (poly wicking fabric) has come out really clean this summer, with the liquid All F/C stainlifters "odor relief". That inherent "funk" is gone. . . or sufficiently diminished to where it is not noticeable....See MoreLuAnn_in_PA
