I'm scared too!!

No way, no how. There is not a bargain big enough to get me to a store today.

Too busy here this morning baking cookies. Nothing in all those ads enticed me to become a 5am mobster.

Nope. My 11 yo was skyping friends last night. Not sure what store they visited, but dd said her friend told her she got shoved up against something and run into with a cart three times while shopping yesterday. Dd had asked to go to Black Friday. I told her the potential crowds like this are why we don't go.

DH saw a tablet in the Steinmart flyer. He doesn't do computers but thought he'd like to learn how to use a tablet. He gave me the flyer and told me to go check it out. I said no way! If he wants it, he can go out. LOL He did. Had no trouble finding a parking space, a nice lady in the store greeted him and he showed her what he was looking for, she took him to itâ¦..right up front by the checkout, another nice person was just opening a register, he had a scratch off coupon and got another $10.00 off so the tablet was $49.99 and now I have to learn how to use it and show him. It was too easy. He'll never believe me about Black Friday. Of course, here in town, the place to stay away from is the outlet mall. Me, I'm in for the day. Usually, on Black Friday, five of my friends and I go out for breakfast, check out Chico's and go to the movies. This year only two of us in town. Two friends went to the Biltmore in Asheville, N.C. for the candlelight tour, one went to New Jersey to her sons and another is spending the weekend in Chesapeake (an hour from here) with daughter SIL and GSs. Maybe next year we'll get back to tradition. Meanwhile I'm trying to get motivated to start decorating.

I just read that there really isn't one day for the best bargains. I read too that you can get better deals this weekend before cyber Monday.
I guess people who work full time have limited times to go shopping so want to use a convenient day off.

Heck NO! It's a great time to shop on line, though. I've been compiling a little list to take advantage of sales.....just everyday stuff.

We have just become 'old' and out of touch and see this day more about a 'feeding frenzy' of materialism gone wild. Clothing???? Gosh, have you seen the tons of stuff, some nearly new,if not new, at Goodwill and Salvation Army? You name it, it is there along with enough knick-nacks to sink that ship heading back to China. And, even the antique stores bulge with beautifully crafted treasures from days gone by.My newspaper, 4 pounds of print and paper, at least.... screamed about all the stuff you can add to our bulging homes...... and landfills How sad that they convince us that all of it is important. Yes, I am old and out of touch and in many ways just a guilty as the masses, as I sit here with a new "heated" throw... even tho I already have several that are not heated. There always will be, something, just a little bit better.

I decided to brave it going to Walmart, and everything was normal except for police in the parking lot, a mobile command trailer outside and two officers sitting near the registers. I had to return a vaporizer and grabbed a few groceries too. No crowd at all. In fact, fewer shoppers than usual.

Look at *tomorrow's trash* being carted out -- by people who do not look like they can afford to pay for it, 'bargain' or not. I avoid Walton's plantation like the plague.

Luckily, the only "frenzy" for me will be going to the bank on Monday to get new bills for tucking in cards for nephews and a grand nephew

Did go to Walmart the day before Thanksgiving. That was business less than usual - no throngs buying last minute food items. The aisles were crammed with pallets still wrapped in cellophane to be shelved for today's kick off buying sprees. There was nothing tempting me beyond buying a package of interesting crew socks and a package of all cotton underpants. It was kind of fun to wander around; probably not fun today!

Just got back from Walmart. Probably wouldn't have braved it but my mother needed a few things before I take her home and we needed mayo for turkey sandwiches. It wasn't bad at all by late morning and everyone seemed cheerful today.

I've had a productive morning. We always adopt angels from our community angel tree and between early morning cyber shopping the Gap kids 50% off everything sale and the trip to WM, I'm 95% finished with angel shopping. Walmart did't have a good children's book selection, so I need to pick up a few elsewhere and I still need to get our girl angel some shoes.

If you are a thrift store patron, go there - not busy at all. Everyone is at the retail shops.

Sheesh, I just saw on the news that now Walmart is being picketed !

It's so nice to live in a rural area. My father, brother and I went to Walmart about 11:00 this morning. The parking lot was 1/4 full (if that much); no crowds, no police, no pushing or shoving. Dad and I were both in the market for a new TV. We found a very good deal at Amazon.com, but wanted to see it "in person". Turns out that Walmart had it on special last night, and they had a few left, taking up space in the aisle. They wanted to get rid of them so they let us have them for $50 cheaper than yesterday's "steal", and $100 less than Amazon.com. That was a bargain!!!

I love Walmart, and the employees are our local stores have told me that management treats them exceptionally well, and they are happy employees!

Grand idea, no goofy gift cards.

Kayjones.....that was my first thought...a thrift store. And....after X-mas....people get rid of all the stuff they got last year and the thrift stores are full of things with tags still on them. Gifts they got they didn't want or need.....

About February those places are over flowing.....!

Although I said I was "scared' to go, we did go later in the afternoon..but our Walmart is a newer one in a very good area....so no problems...But there's a couple in town that are old, messy, you see a lot of "iffy" looking people there..I just don't like going to those.
