I made my first one last month! My sister went on vacation with us to London & Paris - her first time overseas. She wanted a photo book made of her photos. She asked me to do it for her. I told her if I could get a Groupon code I'd do one for her for Xmas. She wanted to pick out the photos but I told her I'd do it. I used mostly all my photos since they were better quality, most of her pics were taken on her iPhone.

I had never made one before and I had no idea if the company I was using was good or not but I figured it was cheap since I did get a Groupon for it so I went ahead.

It turned out beautifully! I got it within a week of ordering it (Myphotobook.ca). I showed it to my other sister and she thinks no one will ever be able to top that as a gift. I'm happy it turned out nice and looking forward to giving it to my sister for Christmas.

By the way, I used only photos with no text except the title on the first page.

We did last year for Christmas, and used the company "Picaboo" because at the time they had a buy one get one free offer. My only complaint was that although they allowed the photo books to be shipped to different addresses, with the buy one-get one offer, both of them had to be shipped to the same address.

Also the cover of one of the two we had shipped to us had gotten damaged in shipping. We contacted the company and they sent us two more books without a quibble.

Glad you both had good experiences! We all know Casey would do a great job on hers, and I'm sure you did too, Bob. I've heard of Picaboo, but not the Canadian company.

A book I did in 2011 documented 40 years of our family pets. It has lots of text because I wanted to tell each of their stories. I posted a bunch of pictures of the book's pages in my blog at the time:

I've done several in past years, time consuming but fun. I use Snapfish or Shutterfly, great results!

I'm adding to grandson's photobook, does that count?

One year, about 25 years ago, my daughter was pregnant and off work so she gathered up all the photos (boxes) and made albums for her 4 brothers, starting with their baby pictures and on up....It was the best gift ever......

Nanny, by all means take the nudge to heart! I was beginning to feel overwhelmed because I hadn't even started on these two books. But I made a huge amount of progress in a very short time, and now I'm feeling more optimistic. :-)

Since my dad photographed me intensively from birth to marriage, maybe one day I'll make a photo book for my kids that's all about me. LOL

Not doing a photo book, but my New Years Resolution is to make a "sort of a scrap book" for each of my 2 children.and 1 more each for the 2 grandchildren to share with their children.

I'll print off 4 copies of each story of my life that I included on my web site, including the pictures; put each page in a plastic sleeve, then put them in a decorative ring binder.

If my ambition holds out, I want to scan, copy and print some real old family photos and include those.

Thank you for reminding me that I have one to make. I finally uploaded the pictures. I'm using Shutterfly because I have a big discount on a book that has to be used. BUT Shutterfly is driving me nuts tonight. For some reason, the whole page won't show on my monitor. I've done this before and never had a problem and of course, my computer guy is not at home. Oh well, I'll figure it out.

As far as family history goes, no I wouldn't bother with a book. They can look at the web site. When the time comes, all my paper files will be in a dumpster anyhow.

I've written before about how I spent a year making albums for family after I inherited my mother and grandmothers boxes of photo's and saved newspaper clippings and cards. How time has flown by...and since then we have gone digital, and that is causing a routine task to become a new learning curve, I think. My 17 year old grand daughter, is barely covered in those albums...as well as all the events that have happened since. Gotta get going!

I've been thing of making a family tree type one. It would be a great way to share what I and make sure everyone has pictures.

I just have a few finishing touch ups to do for my grandsons book and will send it to the printer. It's not a Christmas gift. His parents are fully aware of the book as they've been 'ordered' to send me the vast majority of the pictures. They're just so happy it's over. LOL I added the last of his birthday party pictures to the book and am waiting for the other grandma to give me one thing to add to it. Then my son and his girlfriend will go through the book picture by picture and add anything they want to it. I'll pay for their book and a copy for me. Anyone else in the family who wants one can pay for their own. They're not cheap...... I'm using Blurb to put it together. They also did the maternity book I did last year. They did a fantastic job. :)
