Sorry that I didn't get back earlier to say thank you and to answer a couple of questions. DH & I spent yesterday at one of our favorite big annual art shows. By the time we got home, I was exhausted . . . but very happy. Anyhoo, thanks for your kind comments on my Halloween decs. Yayagal: sadly we don't get any trick-or-treaters here. We live in a mountain community with no sidewalks or streetlights, and with bears, mountain lions, bobcats and coyotes who wander around here at night. So my decs are just for us and any friends we invite over for dinner, etc. Madeyna: thanks! Luckygal: you sound like me with all your bins for every holiday (LOL!) Katrina, Fun & Anele: thank you! Marti8a: no, the scarecrow dec doesn't light up. It's one of many ceramic pieces I painted years ago. As for where I store them the rest of the year, our home is a one-story, all adobe hacienda. Houses out here, including ours, rarely have attics or basements. So, when we had this place built, we had a large storeroom (and a cedar closet) built in our big attached garage. I store them all in there, mainly in large stacking bins. Lynn

Anita, My favorite saying is "Grab your boot straps and keep on going". I say it to myself regularly and my kids (now mostly grown) say it back to me when things aren't going well. I had a similar problem with a surveyor several years back during the housing boom. At first I was panicked, then I decided to start calling other surveyors. It turns out that the first one I called had actually spoken to my guy that morning and was trying to figure out who all of the sick guy's clients were. We ended up with a seamless transition. Start calling now to find another cabinet-maker and ask if they can do the job for close to the same price as your original guy. You might be pleasantly surprised. Good luck!

Lovely ladies Alisande! How is your granddaughter doing? The costume Bigack posted has her son's head right in the middle and his hands are pulling his own hair/holding his head up.. so yes, he is able to see. I've seen this done with a clear plastic jar (cut in the back) over the head too.. so it appears the 'live' head is in a jar being held by a headless person. Very cool idea! DH and I are going to our friend's annual Halloween party as John and Lorena Bobbitt. I won't post pictures here of that, but it is a simple costume with fake blood in appropriate places on some pajamas. I'll carry a 'bloody' knife and a jar with evidence (sausage). Sorry you asked??? lol
