A wonderful, cozy room! I would mount the tv on the wall, to balance the height of the hutch and the fireplace. I would then slide the console cabinet over to the left, so that the mounted tv was not centered over it, but the right side of the cabinet was just a couple of inches to the right of the tv. That would be the place I would use one of the baskets of plants. Once the console is shifted left, you could place a pretty lamp on the left end of the console top. I think you need to pull the sectional out from the hutch even a little more, so that essentially you have a walkway between the sectional and the hutch. I would also look to add some other interesting pottery pieces in reds or patterns that echo the feel of the rug. I would also slide the hutch to the left, so that it was just over the plug. Not centering it behind the sectional will help open the space. The other basket of plants could go on the end of the hutch that faces the kitchen. I love the rug, but I would turn it the other way, so that the fringe is coming out the side of the sectional near the hutch, and the whole side that faces the kitchen has rug under it. It feels odd to me when I look at the back of the sectional, which is what people will often see, and see fringe coming out from under it, and then just in one part. I would take the print pillows from each end of the sectional and place them on the wood chairs. It will warm up that seating a bit, and pull some of the pattern to that area of the seating. The sectional will also seem a bit more inviting with a few less pillows on it. FInally, tho I love the fireplace as it is, I think the contrast in planes is lost with it all painted white. I would consider painting the more recessed left side and the brick on the underside of the hearth in a color halfway between the white and what is on the walls.

Then copy the html code of each picture you want to post here and paste it into the body of your message. It will just show text, but if you use the preview button, the pictures should show.

Your line about "who makes the cut" has really struck a nerve with me. Let me explain. I have the strong opinion that you can do whatever you want with the photos (ie. "who makes the cut"). What you see and how you feel from the displays is all you. A display with a topic theme, color theme, or whatever theme is going to be fabulous as long as you go with your heart and your gut. I had a terrible MIL (EX now!) who actually took the time to inventory WHO was displayed in photos, HOW they were displayed, and concocted her own storylines on why I elected to leave out certain people, include others, and have some more prominent than others. She had the gall to have "sit-down talks" with me several times about my choices in displayed photos. She started sending photos with little post-it notes on where they would "look nice" & which one's I should change out. It gnawed at her to no end that I changed nothing despite her passive-aggressive instructions. I hope your family and/or friends are not the likes of the old hag I used to deal with. You should never, EVER have to explain the reasonings (themes, etc) of photos and why you display what you do. Don't want to bring a downer to this & hope I'm not making you think harder into it. This just brought back some bad memories and it's really too bad it had to go that way. End of therapeutic vent. Gayle

My favorite for the banquette shades is the leaf, but it's blue, not green like the chair fabric. I like how the browns tie in with the cabs and banquette, and I like the bolder pattern because it's more contemporary and fun. Are the cabs knotty alder? Very pretty. The leaf, being an organic motif, works good with the cabs IMO. So I'd look for something like it in the soft green. Or something with texture to hold its own against the wood. That medallion style one (the large sample) looks like a duvet cover or a 1930s cotton house dress. I just wouldn't use it for a window treatment. The new fabrics seem too formal for a family room and add a solid block of color to a room already dominated by the leather and wood furniture.
