Wow -- I haven't seen a DQ (Dairy Queen?) in AGES!!!

I am hoping to do take-out fish fry from a small local place.

After spending nearly 9 months in renovations, the new restaurant about a mile from here is having their 'grand opening' tonight. I drove past the place at 5:19 pm and it is completely PACKED! They're calling themselves a "sports bar". Hoping it will be a good place to eat, but there's no way I'm trying it tonight. :p

DH went shopping and brought home a HUGE ham steak - so maple mustard glazed ham steak, mashed potato/rutabaga combo and some steamed broccoli.

Some of that ham will be frozen for another 2 or 3 dinners!

Just had half a sandwich. I had a GERD attack this morning and not enough sleep last night but I had so much to do today so now I'm just taking it easy.

Must be inadvertently celebrating the good MRI report. Spur of the moment decision found 2 lobster tails on the plate. Lemon butter. Garlic baked tater w/sour cream. Cole Slaw. A tasty bottle of wine. Warm fried apples w/maple syrup. Simple is good. Rest for a minute, then gobble some cookies and a bowl of ice cream.

I made a big pot of seafood okra gumbo with shrimp, scallops, mussels, chicken and sausage, we are having our neighbors over for dinner tonight.
I know it is smelling great.
Has been a rainy day so it's a good day for gumbo.

I made another pot of Zuppa Toscana soup. It's a cream soup with sausage, potatoes, onions and kale. I had that for dinner, and the rest is in the freezer. Hubby can take or leave it, because of the kale, but I wanted to use up the kale.

Stouffers potato bake something or other. Too tired to care.

OF, congratulations on the good results and that sounds like a proper celebration to me! I haven't had lobster in a long time. For many years, my birthday celebration dinner included lobster or tails, a bottle of Asti Spumante, and my favorite chocolate cake. Wish I had some chocolate cake now. :O)

jasdip, have you tried baby kale? maybe your DH would like that.

Party: Yes, it's Dairy Queen. I hope you got your take out fish. We don't have any fish places nearby. You might have to wait a while to try the sports bar.

Mary: Your meal sounds delicious. I've never had rutabaga before. Maybe someday I'll get brave.

Pam: I am sorry you're not feeling up to par. I'm glad you could at least have a half sandwich. Hope you're much better tomorrow.

OldFixer: How can you find room for cookies and ice cream after that huge, delicious meal you had? I love lobster.

Raven: You will be feeding your neighbors some scrumptious food. Wish I were on the guest list.

Jasdip: My older sister told me she likes kale in her salads, but has never cooked with it. I'd like to try your soup. Do you have any troubles freezing a cream soup?

Deeby: I never go wrong when I choose Stouffer's. I'll have to look for the potato bake. Haven't seen that one yet.

We had Papa John's pizza, wings and bread sticks for supper. After a Colt's game if they win, the next day everything at Papa John's is half priced. It was cloudy all day here. I watched Alyssa most of the day and later in the day visited with Terri, Mandy and little Alex who just started to crawl today.

I want OF's dinner!

I made fajitas with the rest of the chicken I cooked yesterday. Extra yummy with homemade salsa. I used Penzey's fajita seasoning and boy, was it good.

Sue: Pizza, wings, bread sticks. No cooking and not much clean up. That's always a plus for me. Uh,oh, Alex is on the move!! lol

Rhizo: I wanted OFs meal also. I'm glad you enjoyed your own fajitas though since it doesn't seem likely we'll get to have some of his.

Shirley, I looked at the box and it's called Cheddar Potato Bake. Has a crumb topping. Pretty good actually.

OF that is fantastic!

It all sounds better than what I had-three gallons of dirty water. Flooded front door carpet and I am only just now done cleaning it up. Yet again. I'm starved! But not for outside ground water.

I used some leftover pork tenderloin slices from the other day, added ham, swiss, mustard and pickles and grilled up some really tasty Cubano sandwiches. I then warmed up leftover broccoli/cauliflower au gratin and mixed mashed potatoes as side dishes. It was a really good really quick evening meal.

rats! That new restaurant has been open less than 48 hours and it's already getting BAD reviews on the food. Only one poster liked the food and she had pizza and wings. ugh! I think 90% of the restaurants around here are pizza joints, and they aren't even good pizza joints. :p

All of the reviewers say that their inside renovations are great, but they desperately need to pave the parking lot. It should look fantastic given all the time and money they put into it -- but what's weird is that I saw them working on the parking lot for the last two weeks! Can't imagine how they messed that up.

I'd choose a dive with good food every time! :O)

That's too bad Party. It's always exciting when a new restaurant opens.

Shirley, cream soups freeze very well. I generally have potato-leek soup frozen, and I've frozen my broccoli and cheese soup.

Oh, supper last nite (Saturday) was stuffed peppers and baked potatoes. I haven't made stuffed peppers in years and I felt like it. I used a can of Ro-Tel as part of the tomato sauce.

jasdip, I agree.... such great expectations w/ new restaurants. lol!

I made 'Stuffed Pepper Soup' for dinner the other night. It was my 2nd attempt -- winging it, as usual -- and it was really good, but next time it will be great. :)
