Looking for shower shoes

My Dr. has recommended water therapy for my arthritis and bursitis. I'm trying to find a non-slip mesh shower-type shoe in my size-11

Everything I find seems to stop at size 10. The review of men's size on Amazon claims the soles are slippery.

I'm wondering if the socks they give in the hospital might work. Any ideas! if I fall my last condition will be worse than my first!!

I saw some on Amazon and the reviews indicated that the XLarge would fit your size just fine. I searched 'mesh shower shoes'.

senior gal, I am swimming at the local Y now, also because of dr. recommendation because of arthritis. I just go slow and carefully barefoot to and from the pool and showers.

Candy, I showed your photos to a professional artist friend of mine and she was blown away by what you did! Actually I showed them to a number of my friends, LOL. I've really been bragging on you. But....I can't find my mother's boot. Its been in a storage bin in the closet for years! Acckkkk, I can't believe I would have donated it. Noooooooo. I don't remember doing so, and pray its just one more thing I've MISplaced. I'm awfully good at losing things in the house, just ask Mr Oblivious. EACH holiday when I pull out decorations, he hears me say something is missing. I've checked all the places I could think for her boot, and no luck. Please cross your fingers its here in the house somewhere!!! I finally know how to decorate it and it goes missing. arrrggghhh. hugs, Karen

I get the idea that you are expecting quality, but at the same time you can't micromanage. This seems petty to me - it's behind a toilet. That's just my opinion, you are the one paying them so it really matters what you think in the end. As a homeowner who has had both good and bad and mediocre contractors (some who came highly recommended!), I know enough to know that you will meet a highly diverse group of people from different walks of life and sometimes you have to shrug things off. I had an awesome carpenter, but he'd walk all over my plants in my yard and I'd think, what the heck?? I'd let the behind the toilet thing go, but I'd have a problem with wobbly toilets. Also, I read your post about them getting the toilet right three times -- I'd be concerned about the wax ring. If they are dropping and lifting, you risk that the wax ring is deformed and won't create a water tight seal - which is the bigger problem. Sometimes it's better to walk away, not micromanage and let them do their job, and inspect afterwards. I had a nosey neighbor who parked his chair in his driveway and micromanaged our roofers who were not happy with it. People perform differently when they know they are being micromanaged. If you think you aren't getting what you paid for, you should say something. But you have to balance being nitpicky vs. what's reasonable. I've worked with contractors and heard horror stories about the micromanaging homeowners who complain about every little thing. I prefer to treat my contractors like human beings instead of hired workers who don't live up to my expectations. Make them a batch of cookies, and sugar coat your complaints if you have to. It will make a huge difference, believe me.

Very interesting. Personally, I don't mind taking my shoes off in winter and/or bad weather, especially at a good friend's home. Probably because I'm very comfortable in their home and no one is judging me by what I wear. I am very likely to curl up on the sofa. At the home of an acquantaince and/or at a large party, I may be offended by the request. In summer I usually do not take my shoes off unless it's a pool party. I never request that anyone, including snow clad boot wearing adults to remove their footware. I do clean/dry the floor after they leave. I believe that if I invited them in to my home, it is my responsibility to accomodate them and clean up after. If I had children and their friends came over, I would probably request that they all remove their footware in bad weather.

If your water therapy involves water walking, you may want to consider something more supportive than shower shoes. Search for water shoes or similar. They'll be more expensive than shower shoes but will provide arch support and be better for your feet.

My mom has bad feet and has participated in the water aerobics at her Y 5 days a week for years. It hurts her to walk barefooted from the dressing room to pool and she does not.

The type she seems to like best these days are Speedo. I sometimes find them new on Ebay, or in places like Boaters World stores, sporting goods shops, even Amazon for her. Her former favorite was a soft soled surfers shoe she bought while in Hawaii and I couldn't find them here.

If you need to buy mens to accommodate your own feet, try mens 1 1/2 - 2 sizes smaller. If you are in womens 11, a mens 9 or 9 1/2 should work for you but may be a bit wide.

I use aquatic shoes they fit on like a glove and are nice and snug with a real rubber sole.
You can find them everywhere from Walmart to target to the sports stores like Academy sports. And shoe stores like payless.
If you have a Walmart near you try there, they are usually hanging in one area of display, not in with the other shoes. Try them on, mens sizes are not equivalent to women's. So like a 9 in women's might be a 7 in men's.

Keen makes women's shoes in size 11, and they have many styles that are appropriate for wet places. And, you can toss them in the washing machine. Air dry.

Zappos sells Keens, Amazon often has Keens, and you can buy direct from the Keen Footwear web site.
