Dry ice and overnight via FedEx

I meant to add, but with the insulin, insulated from the ice. Like wrap it in bubble wrap. So it doesn't touch the ice. Styrofoam packaging keeps the package from getting wet if you have it.

My son in law gets his delivered in the mail. They pack it with those gel packs, not the ones sold for lunch boxes. It works well. The gel packs used are in a plastic bag about the size of an individual .lunch size potato chip sack. They work fine. You could always pack it with the ice packs in a little styrofoam box if you have one too.

When I was getting a refrigerated bone density drug mailed to me, it arrived in a Styrofoam cooler inside a box. The prescription box was inside a zip lock inside the cooler with two ice packs about 5x2x5 and it came overnight. They would still be frozen solid at less than 24 hours.,,,the ice packs, not the drug which could not be too cold or too warm.

When my brother in law mails clams to California and cousins there mail cevapcici (caseless sausages) back to him, they use the UPX store where they cold protect, pack and guarantee ship perishables for you. It's a huge luxury expense - very very expensive.

Just curious--why are you sending insulin? Will you be there to receive it? Are you going to be there so you don't have to get a new prescription? Hopefully you are not sharing it with another person.

Marie--someone will be at the house to accept it. I'm no longer taking that prescription, but another sibling does, so I don't want it to go to waste (I picked it up just a few days before my new doctor told me he wanted me to change to something different, and tho I didn't use any of the pens in the box and had immediately refrigerated them, the drugstore wouldn't take it back, for reasons I understand).

For those of you who are familiar with insulin, it was a big chunk of insurance money, since it was the most expensive in the "tier" system. (Now I know to always ask for generics, or else before I fill the prescription, go to the drugstore to check the price and see what the alternative brands or generics cost.)

Thank you, going to a sibling is probably something I would do, depends on the person. I agree, it is too expensive to waste. When DH passed away, there was some unused pens and I donated them to a free clinic run by the Doctors from out local clinic. They really appreciated them.
