I can't fault Kate or Jon for seizing an opportunity to make a better life for themselves and their children. I can't believe they just "decided" to have 6 babies at one time, and become a Reality Show! That surely was not in their plans. So it happened. Good for them. Who prospered the most...the Gosselins, the companies who supplied the freebies, or TLC? I've watched the show from the beginning. Reading all the comments in these threads about them and the show, I sometimes think we weren't all watching the same show! No doubt Kate was bossy, and Jon was very easy to boss. I think the children were extremely well behaved. Okay, Mady had her melt-downs. Didn't we all have a child, or maybe more than one, who had similar melt-downs from time to time? I don't recall Kate screaming at them. Discipline calls for a strong firm voice. She is a planner, and planned a lot of activities for holidays, etc. Did she have help? No doubt. Who and where were all the nannies I've heard about? I remember one or two young girls helping out. When the babies were infants she mentioned how many loads of wash was done every day, and there was a friend who came and folded them. Would any of us refuse that? Yes, their lives got out of hand. I fault Jon for choosing to find consolation elsewhere. I guess he had his midlife crisis 3 years too late. Kate allowed herself to be overcome with her own importance so far as "working." I do wonder if they ever sat down with all the children and explained what was going on? If that happened, it hasn't been mentioned that I know of. So many people think the children will be scarred for life now. If we asked for a show of hands, I wonder how many right here at the KT have had similar backgrounds and have grown into fine, self respecting adults? I thought the last episode was confusing, time-wise. So much about the Crooked Houses. Those houses were done before that. When the Bikers came, the houses were already there and finished. So now the show is taking a break. So can we all. I've just been thinking about some of these things, and how conclusions and opinions are jumped to without having all the truth to be known. Sue

IÂve just finished to read The prince of Tides, which I read more or less twenty years ago for the first time. Of course I remebred very well what the book was about, but rerading it I was able to get back a lot of details that I had lost. In particular I remebered the strongest passages of WingoÂs family, and I had lost the "poetic" pages. An other thing, IÂm now able to compared the book and the film, because I saw it many times lately, in order to improve my listening-skills. In my opinion the book and the film are complementary to each other , the book tells Tom Wingo memories for 80% of the story and 20% is about Tom in New York, the movie is just the other way around. I think Barbra Streisand did a great job, and always in my humble opinion, she has improved a few naiveties of the author of the book, Pat Conroy. For instance doctor Lowenstein is far much believeble as psychiatrist, in the film than in the book. now I cut and past a little of the plot , for whom havenÂt read the book nor seen the film Things come to a head when Tom learns that his beautiful and talented twin, Savannah, has tried to commit suicide again. As she lays comatose in a New York City mental hospital, Savannah's psychiatrist, Susan Lowenstein, urges Tom to travel to New York. Doctor Lowenstein realizes that the only thing that can help save Savannah is to unlock the secrets of her terrible childhood (something that all the Wingo children have long suppressed and refuse to talk about). Tom flies to New York reluctantly, and at first, presents Dr. Lowenstein with a façade made up of humor, sarcasm and even rudeness. But Dr. Lowenstein eventually is able to break down Tom's protective shell to discover the horrors that took place during the Wingo's childhood. She also realizes that in trying to save Savannah, that this might also be Tom's last chance to save himself. But it turns out that Lowenstein has erected her own protective mask to hide her own unhappiness. With a remote husband and a spoiled son, Tom is able to turn the tables and help the good doctor in promoting a little self-healing as well. Now IÂm nearly through with "The Confessions of Max Tivoli" and IÂve got conflicting feelings about it. I hope , with the beginning of the discussion I will be able to clear up my mind grelobe

It's also very odd that this guy is always wrongfully convicted. Not when it's many of the same people involved. They set him up for the wrongful sexual assault conviction, it seems based on the fact he was a bad apple, there was a huge law suit pending when he was charged with murder (which brought the whole thing to an abrupt end.)The sheriff and da were well aware of the other suspect (who's dna was eventually matched to the crime), but did nothing to prevent the wrongful conviction, in fact others in the sheriff's dept were also aware, so I think he had a very strong case that this was not just a mistake on their part, they actively avoided investigating the person who turned out to be the true offender. I think there was more behind a reason to frame him though for the murder and there were other things they didn't want to come out. If Avery won his lawsuit, I think it would have opened the gates for all of those sexual assault victims who were attacked after Avery was locked up to also have good grounds to sue due to the misconduct. The sexual assault victim in the case became openly critical of the sheriff's dept at this time too, once she realized they put away the wrong person, she was personally told by the sheriff to ignore the information she received about the other suspect in her case before Avery was even found guilty of her sexual assault. There is something very wrong in this sheriff's dept imo. They seem to be fine with coverups and a code of silence when it suits them when they should be holding themselves to high standards. I get the temptation to think he was a lowlife who tortured a cat, so lock him up anyway, but once you give LE a pass on ethics, protocol, conduct, they can target anyone. Not all wrongfully convicted are going to be as squeaky clean as Ryan Ferguson, but the law should be above those types of judgements when convicting people. Lastly he wasn't always wrongfully convicted, he was convicted for what he did to the cat and went to prison for it, I don't think anyone would say that was wrong at all but particularly in a murder trial, a person should expect a fair process even if they are guilty then no one will turn around 10 yrs later and question anything.

Mimi, I've been watching "Good Behavior", too. Michelle Dockery is terrific in the leading role. She's totally believable as an American, isn't she? My favorite actress in the series, I think, was Leslie Nicol. Her performance as Mrs. Patmore was so wonderful, a real standout, in my opinion. I always knew that Thomas was redeemable and was happy to see how it ended for him. His character was very complex, and I found him to be very forgivable.
