What Are Your Sunday Plans?

I'll walk to the Farmers Market Sunday morning, get some corn and tomatoes. Then this afternoon I have to attend the wake of an old friend from work. Will make boiled hot dogs and fresh corn for dinner.

Gonna have a quiet day at home--probably in my quilting studio, working on a quilt. But I need to vacuum the main level first; otherwise, the dust bunnies will be larger than our Yorkie!

I am up 2-3 hours earlier than I ever get up~~getting ready to go with DD2 to a swim meet she is in at UCLA~~it is a master team 18 and up. Her BF could not go so I got tagged in;)

Watching this stupid weather! My county has 6 weather warnings in red listed! We are in a severe tstorm warning right now! Good gosh its March and we have LOTS of snow on the ground!! About 4 am this morning, we had a storm roll thru with thunder and lightening and rain and pea to marble size hail! Unreal. Now they are saying this next storm has an excess of 60mph winds with the rain! ick ick ick! Torrential rain will flood roads and ditches. Here is the warnings: Flood Warning Flood Watch Hazardous Weather Outlook Severe Thunderstorm Warning Severe Weather Statement Wind Advisory I ran to the store earlier and out to check on rainboots that 4 year old Drew wants badly.None here. I found some online and am waiting for DD to email me and let me know if I should order them. I'm done going out for the day and I am staying in til tomorrow! LOL Going to crochet some more on this blanket. Bought stuff for the Fruit Magic cake someone posted her long ago. Its about perfect for DH and I. Trying to figure out supper,I am thinking Rueben sandwiches on the griddle. Or potato soup. or chicken fried chicken! LOL Who knows what we will end up with. Heck its 1 pm and we have all the lights on in the house, it may be a good day to catch a Sunday nap too!

Hi Glenda and all, We had our Easter dinner today at Harry's sister's home. It was nice enough it have it outside so it was enjoyable. Wish you could have seen the food tables! When we got back to our room, I wrote down everything we had that I could remember. It looks like Marilyn_Sue's menu! Glenda, your pineapple casserole was a big hit. None of them had tasted it before and there was very little left. Ham Fried chicken Macaroni and cheese Squash casserole Potato salad (with onlon) Potato salad (w/o onion) Ditalini salad Green bean casserole Scalloped pineapple casserole Buffalo chicken dip with scoops Lettuce salad Deviled eggs 2 large relish trays Rolls Sweet tea Unsweetened tea Desserts: Peach cobbler 2 pecan pies Brownies 4-Day butter cake with coconut frosting (delicious) Marshmallow Whip cheesecake (Another cake???)

dh & i went to walt disney world's epcot park for the Flower Show from 9am-3pm. beautiful day, far fewer tourists (YEAH!!!!) than normal and the severe storms held off long enough for us to get in & out of there and hit publix on the way home too. the flower show was nothing to brag about except for their nice topiary frames, i wanted to see cool unusual new plants but mostly i saw the plants we grew and shipped to disney from where i work lol. one other nice thing was that a new toll road opened recently that makes getting down to disney from winter park only 30 minutes now. nice day, glad i have a day to relax before work thou lol~ liz

After napping in the car during the 24 hour jaunt down to NC from Ontario, beginning Fri. evening, I had a good sleep last night (after doing some email stuff and posting here after most Korea missionary reunion folks had gone to bed, I was up rather early (for me), waking at 7:20 a.m. (didn't know how to set the alarm on the bedside radio). Had to be in the dining hall for breakfast before 8:00 ... and I'd neglected to bring my razor from the car prior to lock up, so it was a fast clean-up. After breakfast there was a presentation for upwards of an hour about the various international and voluntary organization activities to help the people of North Korea have food (there was terrible flooding last fall, with three plantings of the crop that they use to make one of their staple foods - kim-chee, for those familiar with Korean cusine, and the final planting only growing to about a third normal height). They were telling also of bringing medical and educational supplies, capital goods, as well as food - generators to bring light to hospital operating rooms, and power the equipment, as much of it did not last long on the low-voltage current from the mains. There is increasing trust and cooperation among the foreign-based agencies working there, and a build up of it between them and their Korean counterparts - North Korea has been substantially isolated from most of the rest of the world for so long. When various missionary agencies agreed to work in various areas of the country about a century ago, the Presbyterians in Canada (later the United Church, after several denominations united), were assigned the north-east section of the country and some in Manchuria. Though none of us who were there 50 years ago had ever been to the North, we havbe long held a soft spot in our hearts for that area, and we are especially pleased to see the thawing that is taking place there. Then we had a hynmn sing for a while and a worsip, including reading the names of colleagues who had died within the three years since the last gathering - two pages, smallish print, with two or three descriptive lines for each. The offering to go to assist the various upgrading projects in North Korea. I was able to meet several of my friends, though I was only here for a short part of the program - with some of the Canadian group having come whom I hadn't expected. A good supper last evening, breakfast this morning and a delicious lunch has fuelled me for a time ... and I'm crying the blues over gas being $3.99 and $4.00 in this area - but not too large tears, as I filled at lower prices earlier and my little Mazda sort of sips gas (enhanced by my turning off the key and coasting sometimes on downhills - when there's no one close behind). And they have quite a few of those downhills in Kentucky and NC ... I felt a sense of respect for the folks who'd chopped off the large volumes of rock in the hills to dump into the vallies to build the roads, years ago. After yakking to you folks, I'm off across country to visit my niece in n-w GA ... and, leaving hastily, I forgot to bring her address, but I do remember the name of the street. I wrote her family in Alberta to ask them to send it ... but they appear to have not received the message. Anyway - missionaries (and former ones) have to learn to fly by faith (don't we all have to do that, a good deal of the time?). Last trip, I had a bit of a job finding their location, as Gainesville seems to be spread all over the map. Anyway - wish me luck. Plan to return to Ontario just before next weekend ... and Pooh Bear's to be vacationing, so won't see him. Have a lovely week, everyone. Start planning for your retirement - remember, every retired day is on (hopefully, prepaid) vacation. If it isn't prepaid, and one chooses to retire, or has the choice made for them, there's likely a problem down the road, for lack of food tends to make one seek re-employment at an advanced age (unless one plans to die within a few months/years of retirement - improbable with clergy or missionaries, as they tend to live to advanced ages. ole joyful

I've got 5lbs of rice on the burner right now. I'm making 60 breakfast burritos. Then DH just put the brugmansia in the bath tub where it's getting a spritz of "Fabuloso" to kill the white flies(only houseplant that has this problem and it's the first year they showed up). Doing laundry. DH's down sleeping bag has a 6" rip, happened when we washed it yesterday...I need to reapir it...and so on....

I plan on making a BIG pot of green chile for dinner or a pizza. :0)

This will be the first Sunday that I am able to attend church after my surgery on Sept. 5th.... so this is going to be a wonderful event for me... being in the house of the Lord and worshiping with my church family....
I got to watch the service on ustream, but it isn't the same as being there.... and feeling God working on us and our hearts....

Later, I will just play it by ear... no real plans... just a great day .. it is supposed to rain.. and that's good.. rain is nice...

I did not get to go to church this morning. I went to the garden and found there are a lot of Kentucky Wonder green beans under the frosted vines. I picked some but if the weather cooperates, I want to go back and pick the rest. I am sorting though my jars of canned things fixing a box up to give to a friend. So far that is about all I have done. I will most likely just be at home by myself which I do like at times.

I was going to spend today doing laundry and nothing at all. But, Duray (our exchange student) and I were playing a marathon game of Monopoly Deal last night and he found another gift from his family. A Turkish teapot and four bags of tea! The whole thing is huge, don't know how he missed it. LOL! Anyway we were talking about food and tea and I asked if he wanted to go to a Mediteranean (sp?) restaurant in Lexington today. No Turkish ones so this is the closest. All but one are closed....Mr. Kabab is open. So, Alex is meeting me, Duray and Lauren there. So, after that I'll do laundry.

Just grocery shopping later. I need a rest, so today's the day. Tuesday my sister will be here overnight on her way to her condo in Ft. Myers for the winter. Tuesday evening we have to pick up Harry's daughter who will be staying with us until next Sunday. I love company! It forces me to clean the house good :-)

Just got back from the Sunday morning bike ride... and will drive to Tulsa, later, to help Chris celebrate her birthday.

Should be a fun fun day all around.

I just got home from church. I feel so much better if I go to church and my week also seems better if I start out with going to church. Now I am doing a couple of loads of laundry. I don't think I will be doing much of anything else.

Was so busy, only just got around to adding my Sunday.

Up early, cleaned the kitchen, scrubbed the floors--kitchen, hallway, laundry room.

DD came mid-morning to visit--lunch was gnocchi, tomato and mozzarella salad, devilled eggs, homeade rolls, pizzelles.

After lunch, we puzzed over to a farm market to pick up some produce. Then we visited the rest of the afternoon. She left right after dinner and I cleaned up the kitchen again...

Since, I've been working on cross-stitching an apron I have with a Christmas design.

Drove my friend to the airport for her trip to Paris.

Drove my parents to the harbor for their cruise to Mexico.

Bargain shopped my way home.

Baked a nice, fresh chicken.

My arm is doing very well, thanks for asking. Had three surgeries by vascular surgeon, latest was Sept 10. I went back to surgeon, he removed bandages and three swellings were totally gone, and the last will "resolve" by itself in a few weeks or months. Doesn't look bad at all. Again, thanks for asking.
