When I play a video or try to open some sites, I get a
Add-on Shockwave isn't responding. Nothing happens, it just sits there and buffer.

This is using Chrome and I've got WIN7. I didn't change any settings etc.

Do you have the latest shockwave? First try updating, clearing the cache is always a good idea. Be sure to follow the instructions for the chrome version if that is what you want to use.

Kelly, in Photobucket, you need to click on the "HTML tag" and it will say "copied" - then go back to the forum page and place your cursor in your message where you want the picture to appear (like at the bottom of your message). Next go to the menu at the very top of your computer screen and click on the "Edit" button, the dropdown menu will appear, arrow down to "Paste" and click on it and the HTML tag will be pasted into your msg where you put your cursor. You will only see the HTML tag words, it is when you hit the "Preview Message" and the next screen comes up that you will actually see your msg and the picture below it. There you still have the option of changing your msg or hit the "Submit Message" and your pic will appear in the forum pages. If you want to use the "URL" tag you, again, go to your Photobucket, click on the URL tag and it will say copied, then come back to the msg section and put your cursor in the box that says "Optional Link URL." You "MUST" then put a title of the pic in "Name of the Link" and then hit the "Preview Message" button. If you forget to Name the Link, a page will pop up saying it was rejected, you have to go back and Name it before it will be accepted. When done with your msg, hit the "Preview Message" button and the page will come up for your to review it, if satisfied, hit the "Submit Message" button and your msg appears in the forum. It depends on whether it was running when you unplugged it or not. If it was, there is usually a 'safety' cutoff timer that won't let it turn back on for several minutes. This has to do with overstressing the compressor. With a regular refrigerator/freezer, the coils are in the freezer side. There are a set of defroster heaters that run through the coils. Every once in a while (12 hrs?), the compressor stops and the defrosters turn on. The ice that has built up thaws and runs down to the bottom, draining out into a pan beneath the fridge. This water eventually evaporates. Problems happen when the defroster stops working or the drain fills with ice. If it were me and I had a place to store every thing, I would unplug it and let it thaw completely. I would look for the coils and the drain to see that they were clear. I would check out this 'split', though I suspect you were seeing insulation more than ice, but who knows. After all this, I would wipe it down with some disinfectant and turn it back on, fill it up, and go for another 5 years.

At the moment, leaning towards the Marshall Stanmore but I keep wondering how much I would like to use it as a speakerphone, which I would not be able to with the Marshall. The way it looks/sounds counts tremendously, as it will sit out on the kitchen counter. Also, I can connect other devices if needed and I do have some old audio cassettes that have favorite narration. The Alexa stuff, nah, not me. Your input is really helping

This may be a site problem totally unrelated to your system....and not a Shockwave issue. I have one or two news sites that I visit on a daily basis where I often experience this annoying problem with some of their videos. My Shockwave is always current so I knew it wasn't a Shockwave problem. It drove me bonkers until I realized it was their problem [the news site] and not mine. FF offers an "error console" tool where one can view all the script info of any particular video you're trying to run. After reading all the possible script errors...I just learned to accept that these news agencies weren't terribly concerned about the correctness of their scripts and I moved on. If the info was something I couldn't live without...I ran a search hoping to find it on another site. Often...I was lucky and found it somewhere else. :-)

It needed to be upgraded. Thank you so much! Weird that it worked with Firefox and not Chrome though.

Arrrgh!! It crashed again. It says that I have the latest Shockwave installed, but I get the plug-in error message.

Instead of seeing "clouds" on the test page I see the little puzzle piece, saying that it needs permission to run. I have it "enabled" on the add-on page, so I don't know what the heck is going on.

I'm watching online tv with Firefox, because it works there, but Chrome is my default browser, and I want shockwave to work with Chrome.

I had done that earlier before it crashed. I went back and re-did it and it's working (for now).
