Speaking of Spooky, Have You Ever Had This Kind of Thing Happen?

I usually can connect my dreams to something concrete-
something that happened during the previous day,
or something on the news,
or something about which I'm worried.

Last night I dreamed that I was at a thrift store looking at jewelry & chatting with the cashier.

I told her that a certain necklace on her display stand reminded me of a friend who had died.

To my embarrassment (in the dream), I found myself misting up.

This afternoon, I saw that my favorite thrift store had a sale on books, so I stopped & got a few books.

When I got to the check-out, the cashier pointed at a necklace on a display stand & said,
"Look! This necklace is a lot like yours. Is yours Black Hills gold?"

I replied, "no, it's not, it's not *anything* really, it's just costume jewelry. It was given to me by an old friend" & I stopped right there, to keep myself from misting up in front of the cashier.

I have! I had a dream about a workmate whose circles I really didn't run in. When I saw him in our office, which was unusal in itself, I blurted out "I dreamed about you the other night!". My boss was horrified and told me I shouldn't have said that. I told them, No, I just saw him out in public someplace in the dream? That following Friday, I was out with a completely different person and we were walking around downtown, when we decided to stop into a hotel to use the restroom. The guy I dreamed about was there for his school reunion and had popped out to use the restroom. Of all the gin joints! Weird. And then I left with my date. I'm sure he was thinking what I was. Did that just happen? Or maybe he was thinking I was stalking him? Hopefully, he got the picture I wasn't when I left with the other guy (who was far more powerful, funnier, smarter..., surely would've preferred him)!

(ps: It doesn't matter if you told the guy you dreamed about him; guys think we dream about 'em all the time!)

There was a post on here about a month and a half ago with the same exact thing minus the roots. The jade was in a window where it wasn't getting enough light and so became droopy. The owner noticed this and moved the plant so that it was getting more light, and all of the branches turned toward the light. It's phototropism and it's normal. If could have happened if your plant wasn't getting enough light over winter and now is getting sufficient light with summer upon us. If the spot that is growing the roots is the part that is bending and is close to the soil, it doesn't shock me that there are roots there either. We know roots can grow just about anywhere on the jade. That's why we whack them and root them so readily. It may not be getting enough water and so is sending those out in search of water. Take a cutting and set it on a plate. It will send out roots pretty rapidly, especially at this time of year. Put it near soil that is slightly moist or put it in a humid room with no soil, and it will do it faster. At least this has been my experience.

Ah, Lavender, you have truly hit upon a not-such-a-coincidence. How lovely that story is. I wish you would, at some time this winter when it is too cold to go out, put that into a story for your nieces, and illustrate it just like the Jo Koch books....the tea, coffee, etc picture books. You just outlined the basic theme of the book/story, and to have it short and to the point, but with the traditional uses of herbs, what a great wintertime project!! And while you're at it, think about putting some lavender around your mailbox too. Or perhaps put some poison ivy around it to punish those who would whack it with a baseball bat. Please remember to put in some nasturtiums somewhere. They like cooler weather, and I cannot grow them in south Alabama. They go to seed almost immediately, unlike the 100 foot rows of blooms I could plant up here in MA. You are a creative little lady, so go for the book!!

Years ago when i lived in NJ,someone came into my apt about 3 in the morning.Just my baby son and i were home.DH was in the Marines and overseas at the time.I was also pregnant about 6 mos. DS and i were both asleep,and i woke up when i heard someone open the door and come down the hall.I was thinking DH came home early,til i heard them flip the light switch in DS's room,and DH knew that i didn't have his light set up to come on with that switch.I jumped up in bed,and as i did so this big man came into the room.I glanced around for something to defend myself ,but there was nothing. So in a very calm voice,i said who are you and what are you doing in here!! He said nothing,just stood there.I said you better get the hell out of here right now,i'm calling the cops.He started walking back down the hall and i then noticed that he hadn't closed the door when he came in,and his keys were still in the lock.As he got towards the door i went to the phone in the kitchen as the hall forked off into a "Y",to the kitchen or the front door He went out the door,and i went out right behind him and started banging on the next door neighbors door.They opened the door and i fell apart. Neighbors DH took off bare feet and all after the guy,but he had dissappeared into the night. They told me they heard me talking and they also thought DH had come home.They called my sister and my BIL came and got me and ds and took us to their home for the rest of the weekend. The next morning my BIL took me to the housing office and reported,they were sooooooooooooooo unconcerned,said,oh it was probably just the old tenent,and he forgot he didn't live there anymore.SO BIL told them to change the locks before i came home and add a chain lock or another kind of lock as well.They had the nerve to tell him they couldn't add a second lock,their policy.BIL told him then he would,because it wasn't against his policy. cyn, thank you sincerely for your posts, as without them, I would not have known that others may have interpreted my post, as you did, and I need to correct that immediately! Firstly, thanks for informing us that the word 'racism' was actually coined in 1902, much earlier than I thought. Since many people obviously behaved in ways in the late 50's/early 60's that were definitely racist, I actually don't recall ever hearing the word 'racism' when I was little, so I guess I thought the words came into usage much later. But more importantly, roarah is precisely correct in understanding that I meant racism was APPARENTLY 'acceptable' meaning it was WRONGLY TOLERATED. Yikes, I hope everyone will now understand (with my apology to those who didn't) that I was not accurate and precise enough with my wording to make that perfectly clear! Also, I guess I need to clarify that I had never heard the 'N' word before, so I did not have a clue what it meant. It was NEVER said in my house by my parents, or said on our street (that's why I mentioned "I did not even know what the 'N' word was, nor did my friends, I'm sure.") I had never heard it until starting school, where it was used in "Eenie, meenie..." before a game was begun, to see who was the starter of the game or "It." So I was meaning that I regretted participating in the schoolyard chant with no knowledge of the word, having never heard it at home or among my little friends on our street. And this one more than most guys. Just a little (a lot!!!) arrogant. I laughed on the inside when my boss was horrified. I thought, Really?! NO way that would ever happen.

I think you dreamed it and then made it come true, Sylvia! You wore the necklace that was similar to the one in your dream and then you went to the thrift shop, also in your dream. It WAS a coincidence that the clerk noticed it and compared your necklace to one that was similar, though.

I've dreamed about places and then later, found myself in a place where I've never been before and felt like I knew it, because of the dream.

I have very active dreams, not always good ones, but one last night had me waking up laughing. I love those kinds!

I think there's so much we don't know about dreams. When you think of it, we dream about places and people we've never seen. Are we all that creative? Do we all have such skillful imaginations that we can invent buildings and furnishings, people and costumes, a myriad of details, and make them real? I don't think so. I think something besides our subconscious minds is at work.

I dream about two huge and old shumard oaks in the front yard of a childhood home. Such happy memories and dreams.

In one of the dreams of this yard, my mom and I were riding motorcycles around the neighborhood, on some sort of 'mission'.

You have no idea how funny the thought of mom on a motorcycle is to me!

I had a recurring dream in my teens, that happened half a dozen times a year, until a 'grand finale' dream finally ended it's recurrence.

I dreamt I was babysitting my younger siblings one night and had put them to bed. I notice a light from my parents bedroom, so went in to shut it off. But I see the lid of the cedar chest at the foot of their bed is open, so I sit down on the bed. Inside it they kept (same in real life) my father's police marksmanship trophies, and containers of loose family photos that weren't yet put into albums.

I pick up a container and start taking out photos, one at a time. The first photos I pull out are the latest ones taken, so they are in colour. As I continue taking them out, the colour begins to fade on each successive photo, until they are simply black and white, as they are now depicting (real) events/family from before I was born.

The dream ends with me picking up a photo by the back, and starting to turn it over to see the actual picture. I never get to turn the photo around, before I either wake up, or simply morph into a different dream. It became very annoying, having this same dream for almost 14 years, and never getting to see what was on the front side of that dang photo!

The good news is, when I was almost 30, and pregnant with my first child, I had the dream one night and finally got to turn over the photo and see what was on it! The bad news is, it made no difference. The photo was only a picture of me, starting to turn over a photo! I'm about 16 in the pic, which is the same age I was when I first started having this dream, and I am in my parents' old bedroom, pulling the photo out of their open cedar chest.

I have never had that dream again, so I guess my subconscious considered the dream 'concluded' just because I got to turn over the photo. But it still annoys me that I never got to see the actual picture, lol!
