I have belonged to a book club here for several years and I enjoy it. You may find that some readers are really "into" all of the nuances in the book, but there will be mostly those who just enjoy reading.

I think you will enjoy it. Of course ours is at 3PM, so no breakfast!!

I hope you enjoy it. I belong to two clubs and I find them enriching and informative. The best part is introducing me to books I'd not normally read. I enjoy the discussions and the camaraderie. My first group (I've been a member 30 years) meets on Sunday evenings for a potluck supper. The host provides the main dish and chooses the book for the following month. The rest of us bring assigned side dishes or wine. My other group has been going 20 years and we meet one evening a month for drinks and snacks. Both contain a diverse group of people which makes it lively and interesting. The best discussions seem to be when we don't all love the book. Hope you'll enjoy yours! I've been a member of a book club for 14 years. The club consists of 11 women and each one chooses a book for their chosen month and hosts that month's meeting. We don't meet in December. Some cook an entire dinner, others serve snacks.

What I love about it is that I have read (and loved) books I would have never read had I not been in a book club. I've made some wonderful friends in the group and have in fact traveled the world from Alaska to Antarctica with one of them.

Not only do you get to read books you might never have read, but the discussion provides great insight to the people in the group. Everybody has different reactions to the characters, some of it based on each ones life experiences. I think it's great that you're going to meet a lot of new people as well.

I'm such a dunce. The club meeting was tomorrow not today. I was running a little late, got there about 5 after, only to find out it is tomorrow. So, I went to get some fly traps, the last couple of days there have been swarms of them in my house. It's gross. The other day not one fly in my house, then there are 10-15 every night I come home. All doors and windows closed while I'm at work. I have no idea how they're getting into my house.

So, anyway, then went to Subway to try one of their breakfast sandwiches. Wasn't sure the one here in our little town would even be open that early but it was. The McDonalds across the street was packed and I was the only one in the Subway. 6 inch sandwich with coffee for $3.95 and 100 times better than McDonalds.

The book is "Stay" by Allie Larkin. It was ok. You're all right, I would never have read this book if I hadn't joined the club. A few years ago I would never have read children's books either, unless I was reading them to my kids. But I loved the Harry Potter series after reading them to the kids. I'm currently listening to them again on CD in the car to and from work. Then my exchange students got me to reading some young adult books. I'm currently reading "Nightmares" which is a children's book I saw in Joseph Beths the other day. Got it on Amazon for half the price.

Yesterday was a very, nice, slow day at work. I was charge so didn't have any patients. Census was low and the guy who was our ward clerk for the day, who doesn't normally work on our unit was reading a book when he had time...which was most of the day because we didn't have one admission. We were talking about books and he reads books from the library that aren't currently popular, ones they're selling off. He told me there's a huge warehouse in Tennessee off the interstate that sells books for $1. Now I want to go check it out.

Where in Tennessee is the warehouse?

I have not been in a book club, per se, but my son and I love to analyze characters and compare them to other storylines. So I guess we have our own bookclub? Whatever you wanna call it, we have fun. I hope you have fun!

Both kids love books. When we went to NV to see my dad we stopped in at a little volunteer used book store. Books were dirt cheap, some were 25 cents a piece. I got a couple books, but my kids both bought boxes of them. The car was packed with mostly books for the trip home.

I've never joined a book club, but sounds interesting, something I might like.

I love to read also but have never joined a book club. Glad to hear that you are getting re interested in reading again. Reading can take you to another place and time I think that is why I love to read. Look forward to hearing about the club you have joined.

Book clubs sound great; I'm sure you'll enjoy it. We have several at our library. One of my best friends belongs to one that chooses books that spark a lot of in-depth discussion. I would call them "difficult" books, although that doesn't quite describe it. Not necessarily difficult to read and understand, but difficult to enjoy--at least from my perspective.

I do read for information sometimes, but mostly I read for fun. I can't imagine a book club discussing JD Robb's "In Death" series, for example, one of my favorites. How much can you say about it? LOL

I belong to a writer's "club"--a group of five. We meet regularly to discuss each other's writing, which is useful to us, and usually enjoyable as well. Wine, beer, and snacks add to the fun.

I just picked up "The Good Nurse" from the library, they only had it in audio form.

Great! I love to listen to books when I am quilting,sewing, cleaning, walking etc where you don't have to focus on your task.

Over halfway through the book. Unbelievable the lack of caring on the part of the hospitals regarding patient's lives. I keep thinking "omg". All those people who could have been saved if someone had done something.

The risk manager who said the Pyxsis only stored 30 days of data, then erased (when in truth it NEVER erased data)...
And she & the hospital attorney who said they had interviewed several staff members, including Cullen, about the issues they were investigating, but denied keeping *any* notes on the interviews...

I tried belonging to a book club once and it was nice but I didn't stay a member. It was a small group of ladies who had been meeting together for years and I never felt quite like I fit in. I also didn't like a lot of their selections and although I read copiously I won't read something that I don't like. To me reading has always been for the joy of it. I think a book club is a great idea and would try again with another group if I knew of one nearby. Lots of times in the one group I did belong to the members didn't even read the book...they would just sit and talk and visit together! Good luck with your club! Let us know how it turns out!

BeeOhio, just finished the book. Amazed that it went on for so long and no one with any authority tried to stop him from killing more people. I hope those people slept well at night.

The first day of the book club was ok. One woman was a writer, who hasn't been published. She was pretty talkative. Only two other women there, one running it. My next book is "Cat's Eyewitness" by Rita Mae Brown. I'm not going to start it for a couple weeks or I will forget the story by the time the next meeting rolls around. I learned this in high school. Would read a book assigned in a couple of days, while the class dragged it out as long as possible. By the time the test came around I'd already read a dozen more books and pretty much forgot the assigned book. lol

The book for this month is Gone Girl. I really like it, mysteries are my very favorite read. I joined the group so I would read a variety. I have read books I would never have chosen, some I loved and some that were stinkers.

Gabriell, that was the reason I joined, well, one of the reasons, to find books I wouldn't normally pick for myself. The other reason was to get out of the house and meet people.

Kathleen, I hope you enjoy the book club. They are not all the same, but I am thankful that I have been part of two (only one currently) that I've really enjoyed.
