We have self serve gas stations here. Today, as I pulled up, I had to wait while a man was TRYING to use his cards to get gas. There is one spot where you scan your store card to get the discount, and a slot where you put your debit/credit card. This man kept trying to scan his payment card where it reads the store card. OVER and OVER. He even patted it, trying to get it to work. Giving him the benefit of the doubt, he could have been from out of state, borrowing someone else's truck, but geeeez. He was getting more and more frustrated, almost to the point where I wanted to get out of my car and SHOW him how to do it. Glad I didn't, because, just then, he opened the passanger door, yelled and yelled at his wife, then stomped off to the cashier booth. I thought to pay there. Nope. He comes back and tries again, this time putting his payment card in the right spot, but something else wasn't working right for him. As I was backing up to go to a different pump, the cashier came out to help him.

I felt bad for the wife....I can just imagine the rantings she had to listen to after they left.

Poor woman! She probably deals with that type of behavior all the time.

But, I understand the frustration all too much! The first time I used a food rewards card at the gas station it took me forever to figure it out. So I went inside to ask the cashier. Did she come out to help me? No. She gave me instructions inside the store and I headed back out to try it again.

I finally figured it out, but ... I don't care who was waiting, I wanted my 42 cents a gallon savings! :)

I once wasn't able to get a pump to work for me. I put my card in and it was accepted, but it wouldn't dispense any gas. I flipped the lever down and put the nozzle back and waited a minute or so and the display on the pump went back to the "please insert card" message you get when you first start a transaction. I did this twice thinking I'd somehow screwed up the first attempt. Since it didn't work the second time either I figured the problem wasn't me and I drove to another pump an aisle over and got it to work; I was only charged for the gas I did get. I think once you return the nozzle to the pump and if there's no dispensing activity on a pump for a set amount of time after that then the transaction is basically voided. Hope this holds true for your situation.

Nice logo! A building is a great way to further the marketing of a business, an opportunity you don't want to miss if you want the name of your business to pop into someones head when they pass by. In essence it's a huge billboard, and you're on track to take advantage of that by "branding" it to the colors you use on your business logo; but subtle rarely works so your instincts about creating more contrast with "medium grey body color, black band around the top, gold accent below the black" are right. Also get bold about how you use color, like painting the entire ceiling of the pump area in the gold tone and the area above black to outline it. Your logo is very tasteful, be generous about including on doors or windows and if you have a large open space. like the side of the building size it up to fill the space.

There is a native species also. L.californicum. In fact,its almost from border to border on the coast. A more modest display of flowers,but I'm sure nativists have some improved versions at botanical garden sales.

Thanks @User. I didn't recall smelling anything like this during the bulk of our remodel (lots of tiling) two years ago, so it caught me off guard. The only thing I couldn't stand back then was the rotten fruit smell of the Mapei self-leveling flooring gunk (which no one else seemed to mind). So hopefully this is a case of: This soon shall pass!
